Actress Katie Holmes features as “Vogue” Australia’s cover story for its November 2020 issue. In the issue, she gave fans a glimpse of what her life was like with her teenage daughter amid COVID-19.

Katie Holmes has spent the year in self-quarantine in New York with her daughter, Suri Cruise, 14. She confessed in her essay for “Vogue” Australia how she’s appreciated that:

“The natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift.”

Even though the novel coronavirus pandemic has come with many tragedies, Holmes was grateful for having had the time to just be at home. She noted how she found satisfaction in simple things like painting, sewing, and writing.

The actress also revealed how she was finally able to see her family in Ohio. She noted how seeing her family felt like Christmas Day morning to her after she’d spent months only able to FaceTime with them.

The star recalled how her mother’s eyes seemed brighter and her father’s hands were even stronger when they saw each other for the first time. She also noted how their shared hugs were so much tighter.

Holmes' daughter, whom she shares with Tom Cruise, was welcomed in 2006. The teenager was born six months before her parents decided to tie the knot on November 18, 2006.

The "Dawson's Creek” actress and the “Mission: Impossible” actor sadly got divorced in 2011. In an effort to protect her daughter, Holmes has generally kept Suri out of the spotlight.

However, in a recent “InStyle” interview she opened up about her love for her only child. The actress confessed that her main goal was to make sure to nurture Suri’s individuality.

Holmes described her daughter as a focused person who was very hard working. In December 2019, the actress shared a rare photo of her young daughter on her Instagram Story.

For Suri’s birthday on April 18, 2020, Katie commemorated the big day by leaving a lovely social media message for her.
