Will Smith and his ex-wife Sheree Zampino were oozing with love for their son Trey Smith as they celebrated his 28th birthday with special tributes on Instagram. They are just the sweetest!

Trey Smith is 28 years younger now! The oldest son of Will Smith and his ex-wife Sheree Zampino just celebrated his birthday and his parents made the day all the more special with their heartwarming tributes.

Smith took to his Instagram to share a rare throwback photo of Trey and himself along with a more recent one. He looked dapper in a white suit while Trey rocked a black suit.

RECREATING MEMORIES

The little boy stood on a chair, still unable to look as tall as his father. The second photo saw the duo recreating the first snap after all these years, and finally, Trey looked taller than his big man!

Smith and his son are close now, but things have not always been this way for them.

In the caption, Smith gushed about how his son is one of his favorite people on Earth. "I love you, T-Ball. Happy Bday!" the proud father exclaimed. Their bond is simply heart-melting.

Meanwhile, Zampino took to her Instagram to share a sweet GIF clip that featured a collage of memories from Trey's childhood and one from his younger days. The comment section was full of birthday wishes that went to show how much the birthday boy is loved.

WILL AND TREY'S COMPLICATED PAST

Smith and his son are close now, but things have not always been this way for them. In 2018, Smith confessed that he and Trey struggled for years after his divorce with Zampino.

In the caption to an Instagram video, Smith shared that Trey felt betrayed and abandoned. With time, their relationship healed and Smith could not be more thankful for that blessing.

CLOSER THAN EVER NOW

In the video, Smith talked about the trip to Abu Dhabi he and Trey took and said they had been hanging out. During the trip, his son realized something important about their relationship. Recalling what Trey told him, Smith said:

"He just hit me with, 'You know what dad? I just realized you are not just my dad.' Then he paused and he said, 'I'm pretty sure you are my best friend.'"

Zampino and Smith are known to have one of the most amicable relationships in Hollywood as exes. They could not make their marriage work, but they still remain close friends to this day.
