Shawn Mendes Reacts to 2015 Clip with Camila Cabello — It Took 3 Years to Admit He Was in Love
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello make up one of the most beautiful couples in the entertainment industry, but back in 2015, they were not ready to publicly accept it.
On the December 7 episode of the “Late Late Show with James Corden,” Mendes and Matthew McConaughey were the guests, and they watched a 2015 interview of Mendes and Cabello.
Both singers apparently had a platonic relationship at the time, but it didn’t stop Corden to repeatedly ask (and then insist) if they were actually dating. Keep scrolling to watch the video.

MENDES AND CABELLO’S 2015 INTERVIEW
Since Mendes and Cabello kept denying it, Corden said, “I don’t believe you,” and Mendes hit back with, “I don’t care.” After watching the clip, Mendes said it was “hard” to relieve it.
He confessed that he didn’t accept he was “completely in love” with her. In fact, he only admitted it three years after that interview but decided to do something about it two years after that.
Even though the couple waited a long time to actually start dating, the "Stitches" singer said that the timing “worked out” as, nowadays, they are "good" and “everything is amazing.”
Mendes and Cabello met while working together on Austin Mahone’s 2014 tour. At the time, she was part of the girl group Fifth Harmony, and he was at the beginning of his career.
[Mendes] and Cabello have talked about getting engaged one day.
Cabello admitted that, during the tour, she “never saw him” as he was a super focused musician who was always going in and out of his bus, playing the guitar and writing new songs.
The following year, Mendes and Cabello sparked dating rumors for the first time after they were photographed together at the 2015 Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, but it was a false alarm.
BEGINNING OF THEIR LOVE STORY
Also in 2015, they got together to write a song and started spending a lot of time with each other because of that. Cabello admitted that was the time she noticed she really liked him.
For years, they remained very good friends who would often gush over each other in interviews and lean on one another during their teen years in the music industry.
In October 2019, Cabello and Mendes finally made public their relationship, but they officially started dating that July. The couple quarantined together in Miami and even adopted a dog, Tarzan.
The "Treat You Better" singer recently confessed that he and Cabello have talked about getting engaged one day, so it looks like it’s just a matter of time to see them walking down the aisle.
