'Respect' Star Jennifer Hudson to Appear in New Line Xmas Comedy Pitch — See the Details
Jennifer Hudson will be singing popular Christmas standards in New Line's new Christmas comedy pitch. The announcement came just after a music video, in which the talented singer featured, went viral.
It was recently revealed that Jennifer Hudson is set to star in a Christmas comedy pitch by New Line. According to Deadline, Hudson will be expected to perform both new and classic Christmas songs.
The musical comedy will reportedly follow the story of a washed-up singer whose life gets complicated after she gets mistaken for writing the new Christmas hit.

The revelation comes shortly after a video in which Hudson featured went viral. The video featured the talented singer, Mariah Carey, and Ariana Grande singing "Oh Santa" for Carey's Magical Christmas Special on Apple TV+.
"Oh, Santa" is a track Mariah Carey allegedly wrote for her holiday album "Merry Christmas II You"— a sequel to her first Christmas album.
Shortly after news of Hudson's participation in the unnamed Christmas movie went public, Hudson confirmed the news via her Instagram page. She revealed how excited she is to finally share the information.
Hudson was reportedly hand-picked for the role by Franklin before her demise.
In the comments section, her fans met the news with positive and congratulatory comments. One fan declared that the comedy film and soundtrack would be "lit." Another expressed impatience, stating that she simply can't wait.
Jonathan Glickman will produce the movie via his Glickmania banner. Hudson will also be joining him as a producer, and Molly Mankiewicz will executive produce. This will be Hudson's second experience working with Glickman.
The pair joined hands in the making of "Respect"— a biopic in which Hudson will portray Aretha Franklin. She was the executive producer on the project, which was directed by Liesl Tommy.
Hudson was reportedly hand-picked for the role by Franklin before her demise. The biopic, which will also star Marlon Wayans, Mary J. Blige, and Forest Whitaker, is scheduled to be released by MGM on August 13, 2021.
Besides her roles in "Respect" and the upcoming Christmas comedy, Hudson will also fill the role of executive producer and voice-over actress in "Baba Yaga", Baobab Studios' 2021 short film.
The film which boasts of an immersive VR experience brings the classic folktale to life with modern themes of feminism and environmentalism.
