THE FIERCE FIT

COMPARISON TO BEYONCÉ
Solange has dealt with years of comparison to her megastar sister, Beyoncé, especially after the sisters released their 2016 albums within months of each other.
Fans drew comparisons between her "A Seat at The Table" album and Beyoncé's "Lemonade" album, which carried messages of Black and female empowerment.
Solange credited the sisters' upbringing for the inspiration behind their socially and politically charged music. She said that growing up in the same house influenced their thinking similarly.
TELLING HER OWN STORY
"A Seat At the Table" was more than just a record of empowerment. Solange said she felt she needed to tell her family's story, which involved having them speak on the album.
When Beyoncé interviewed her for Interview Magazine, she opened up about her inspirations for the record, which included her own transition into motherhood and the end of her relationship with her first husband.
SOLANGE'S REFLECTIONS
"A Seat At the Table," which was released two years after her infamous fight with Jay-Z, solidified Solange's career as an artist to be reckoned with, and she followed up with "When I Get Home," in March 2019.
In her October Harper's Bazaar feature, Solange reflected on her journey to being the woman and artist she is today, relying on poetry and diary entries to express her feelings about the world.
