See Sarah Michelle Gellar's Inspiring Post in Honor of Her Character 'Buffy Summers' Turning 40

Fan-favorite series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s” main character reached a special milestone this month. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the role, took social media to commemorate the event with a photo.

On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Buffy Anne Summers from the show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” officially turned 40! The actress who played the role, Sarah Michelle Gellar, 43, noted the special day with an Instagram post.

The actress shared a throwback image of herself when she was much younger. In the post, the star held a bow and arrow facing the camera bravely while on the drama series.

Gellar captioned the post noting how she’d realized during the day that it was Summers’s 40th birthday on Tuesday. She confessed that she couldn’t believe it was the character’s special day.

The actress also revealed what she’d learned from playing a role in the 1990s to the early 2000s. She shared how Summers had taught her a lesson that applied to living in the world.

Gellar learned that the hardest thing about being a part of the world was able to live in it. She then shared with her fans what she wished for them to do along with her to commemorate the day, writing:

“So in her honor let’s all be brave. Live.”

The star noted how living with the novel coronavirus pandemic wasn’t how we were used to living, but she urged her fans to find the beauty in it. She shared that she believed this would let us live safely and for longer.

The actress concluded her post with a hashtag where she wished her character a happy birthday. Gellar has since gotten married to fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr., and they share two adorable children.

Their children are daughter Charlotte, 11, and son Rocky, 8. Ironically, Gellar’s family actually started watching “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” during the lockdown as per her confession in October 2020.

At the time, the star was being interviewed on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She admitted that it took so long for her children to know about the series because it never occurred to her to show it to them.

Her children were the ones who asked to binge-watch the show. She hadn’t thought they’d like the series, but they surprised her by immersing in it, and they get disappointed when Gellar didn’t recall certain parts.
