Deng Pravatoudom, 57, of Toronto, Canada, won $60 million after playing the lottery numbers her husband dreamt about 20 years ago. The mom of 2 and grandmother of 2 had worked as a general laborer with her husband for over 40 years.

On December 1, 2020, Pravatoudom left the temple after her morning prayers to run errands at the mall. A regular lotto player, she checked her LOTTO Max ticket and discovered she'd won a free play, to which she added ENCORE. A few days passed.

Her husband checked on the lottery numbers while Pravatoudom went to the bank and discovered the fantastic news. She said she was bought to tears when he broke the news to her in a serious face, knowing he was truthful, adding:

"I have always prayed for a blessing that my family would be taken care of!”

Pravatoudom was very nervous when she collected her prize from the OLG Prize Center in Toronto. She also took part in the first virtual Winner's Celebration due to the province-wide lockdown.

Pravatoudom arrived as an immigrant with her 14 siblings in 1980 from Laos. A local church in their area supported them since the family was destitute.

Over 40 years, Pravatoudom and her husband built a life for their two children, although they never worked a job that didn't afford them a minimum wage as laborers.

When Pravatoudom broke the news to her children, they expressed excitement and a huge sense of relief. According to the mother, her children said:

"Mom and Dad you have worked so hard for 40 years and made many sacrifices, so you deserve this happiness!’”

Pravatoudom says she'll buy a house, move out of her apartment with the winnings, pay off some bills, and help immediate and extended family members. Having never traveled the world, Pravatoudom plans to treat herself after lockdown.

Last June, a Michigan man won $2 million after he accidentally purchased an extra winning lotto ticket. Samir Mazahem meant to buy an online ticket but forgot to save the numbers as favorites to play them in the future.

After he logged on to the Michigan Lottery app to store them, he did not realize he was purchasing a second ticket with the same numbers. This doubled Mazahem's luck when he won twice with the winning numbers.
