J Lo & Matthew McConaughey Recall on-Screen Kiss on 'The Wedding Planner' on 20th Anniversary
Anniversaries are great excuses to think of the past. Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey know this firsthand, so they reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “The Wedding Planner.”
On January 26, Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey got together on an Instagram Live to share their thoughts on “The Wedding Planner,” the film they starred in two decades ago.
In the romantic comedy directed by Adam Shankman and written by Michael Ellis and Pamela Falk, Lopez took the role of wedding planner Mary Fiore, and McConaughey played pediatrician Steve Edison.

Initially, Mary is supposed to tie the knot with Massimo, portrayed by Justin Chambers. On the other hand, Steve is also getting ready to wed Fran, played by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras.
However, Lopez and McConaughey’s characters end up falling in love with each other, and that’s when things get complicated. Judy Green, Alex Rocco, and Joanna Gleason also appear in the film.
During Lopez and McConaughey’s Instagram Live, she pointed out that it felt “like it was yesterday.” Apart from that, the “Dinero” singer asked the “Interstellar” actor if he remembered their on-screen kiss. She said:
“I remember you saying to me, I don't know if you remember this. You said, ‘Miss Lopez, I'm going to kiss you now.’ And I said, ‘Okay, let's do it.’”
While the film received poor critics (17% critic and 59% audience approval rating), Lopez confessed that she enjoyed working with McConaughey.
McConaughey also praised Lopez for doing her own stunts. After gushing about their chemistry and rapport, they said that they needed to work together again as it’s been “too long.”
While in lockdown, Lopez realized how much she was missing out on life.
These past weeks, Lopez has attracted a lot of attention. One of the things she did was clapping back at an Instagram user for claiming that she’s been getting “tons” of Botox.
During an interview with People, the singer revealed that she didn’t judge others’ choices about Botox or injectables. Still, she didn’t want people to lie about her or suggest that she’s a liar.
Apart from that, Lopez shared with “Today” that, before the pandemic, she was on “a hamster wheel” as she would never stop working – not even to take a minute for herself.
While in lockdown, Lopez realized how much she was missing out on life and learned that there’s always time to relax and be with her loved ones. Way to go, JLo!
