Oprah Winfrey Hosted Wedding for Best Friend Gayle King's Daughter at Her Home
Oprah Winfrey played a huge role in Gayle King's daughter's wedding held in December 2020. Here's a glimpse at the beautiful six-guest Californian ceremony.
While the world was getting round to celebrating Christmas amid a pandemic, television personality Oprah Winfrey played an essential role in bringing her goddaughter's wedding to fruition.
Earlier this month, Gayle King, who also doubles as Winfrey's best friend, revealed that her only daughter Kirby and her beau Virgil Miller said their "I dos" in a wedding held at Winfrey's California home.

Speaking to OprahMag, King admitted that even though a COVID-19 restricted wedding was not what they initially planned, it was still a perfect ceremony altogether.
In adherence to the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, Kirby's beautiful wedding had only six people in attendance. This included the couple, King, her son Will, Winfrey, and her partner, Stedman Graham.
With the circumstances surrounding the wedding, it was only a given that more unexpected things happened. This included Kirby's brother Will Bumpus officiating his sister's wedding.
King explained that Kirby shares a close relationship with her brother, and having him preside over the wedding felt like it was meant to happen.
In the end, what was most important to King was honoring and celebrating the love between her daughter and Miller.
Apart from giving her house for the ceremony, Winfrey indirectly helped Kirby and her husband land a good wedding photography deal.
Joe Pugliese, a photographer on Winfrey's property for a shoot that got canceled at the last minute, ended up snapping Kirby and Miller's professional wedding photos, which King described as stunning.
In the pictures, the couple was captured posing on a balcony while sweetly holding hands. As Kirby gazed into her husband's eyes, the wind blew against her veil, giving the scenery an even more magical look.
While several parts of the wedding were "perfect," King noted that she could not hug Kirby after the wedding — something she described as incredibly hard in an Instagram post.
However, in the end, what was most important to King was honoring and celebrating the love between her daughter and Miller and giving them memories they will forever remember.
King, who is evidently a doting mom, shares her daughter and son with her ex-husband, lawyer William Bumpus whom she was married to for over a decade.
Now, watching her kids live the best of their lives, King is undoubtedly proud to be their mother. After all, what better joy than to see one's children thriving and happy!
