MCCONAUGHEY CORRECTS THE MISCONCEPTION

During his virtual interview with Rob Lowe, McConaughey revealed that he did not turn down the role and was never offered the part in the first place.

According to the star, his audition involved reading lines with Kate Winslet and being filmed, unlike other auditions. He said:

DICAPRIO WINS THE ROLE

Meanwhile, director James Cameron shared what happened behind the scenes during his screen time on “The Tonight Show.” Although McConaughey was undeniably great for the role, there was just something about DiCaprio.

Apart from experiencing sexual abuse in his youth, the actor’s father led their family with an iron fist.

When the “Inception” star came for his audition, all the girls from different departments came to watch, moving Cameron to choose him to star in “Titanic.”

MCCONAUGHEY TODAY

McConaughey has achieved great heights since and is not an established actor and proud father to three kids, Levi, Vida, and Livingston, whom he shares with his wife, Camila.

According to the 50-year-old, fatherhood had always been his dream, and his children mean everything to him. The proud father revealed that being at home has done marvelous things to his kids, such as releasing their creative juices.

“They have doubled down on their hobbies, creative things, and parts of themselves I don’t think they would have leaned into if they were back in school,” he shared.

GROWING UP IN TEXAS

Unlike his children, McConaughey’s childhood was not filled with pleasant memories and happy days with his parents. On the contrary, he feared them.

Apart from experiencing sexual abuse in his youth, the actor’s father led their family with an iron fist, punishing him with a belt and even hurt his mother.

Luckily, McConaughey learned from his experience and vowed not to raise his kids with similar methods. Indeed, Levi, Vida, and Livingston are blessed to have a great dad.
