Meet 'The Avengers' Star Mark Ruffalo's Wife Sunrise Coigney, Who Plays a Big Part in His Life

For those who might not have known, actor Mark Ruffalo is actually married. The star and his wife, Sunrise Coigney, have three children together, and she’s a big part of his life.

Mark Ruffalo met his future wife, Sunrise “Sunny” Coigney, in 1998. The pair met each other on the streets when the star was still struggling with establishing his acting career.

In an interview with “The Guardian,” Ruffalo confessed that his life changed after meeting her. The actor admitted that they crossed paths when he was living in a dump and didn’t have a credit card or driver’s license.

The “13 Going on 30” star shared how Coigney thought he was a mess but still believed in him. She kept encouraging him, and the actor confessed that he wasn’t sure he would’ve made it without her.

Ruffalo knew he’d met his dream woman and made sure to secure their relationship. The pair got married in 2000, and after almost two years together, they welcomed their first child.

In June 2001, the couple had their son Keen. The duo then expanded their family with two more additions, a daughter Bella in April 2005, and then another daughter, Odette, who came in October 2007.

Coigney is also an actor too, but her main focus has been their family. Her husband was also quite hands-on with the family, but he focused on growing his now-award-winning career.

Even though “The Avengers” actor plays his role in the family significantly, he praised his wife for being a “fierce advocate for her kids.” He made the statement to honor her on Mother’s Day in May 2020.

The “In the Cut” actress was born on September 17, 1972, and was raised in San Francisco. She and Ruffalo have a five year age difference as the Emmy Award winner was born on November 22, 1967.

According to "Variety," the duo lives with their children in the Upstate New York area of Callicoon. Besides working as an actress, Coigney is also charting a path for herself as a savvy businesswoman.

She opened the boutique store Sunny’s Callicoon Pop in Callicoon in 2017, but the physical store no longer exists as it's now run online. Before she opened the boutique store, the actress owned another company.

She previously owned a Los Angeles shop called Kaviar and Kind. Even though the “Line of Fire” actress and the “Just Like Heaven” actor have had their trials and tribulations, they are still going strong.

Besides his Mother’s Day dedication to his wife last year, Ruffalo tends to post images of her and their children on social media. Last November, he shared a photo of him, his wife, and one of their daughters hugging tightly.
