Us Weekly: Princess Eugenie Is the 'Only' Member of Royal Family Meghan Markle's Still Close To

Princess Eugenie is the only royal family member that Meghan Markle is still close to amid the drama.

Us Weekly reported that Princess Eugenie is the only member of the royal family that Meghan Markle is still close to, amid her and Prince Harry not returning to their roles as "senior" members of the royal family.

A royal inside revealed that despite Markle moving to and living in California over the last year, the two have remained close and bonded over their pregnancies.

Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, her husband, welcomed their first child, son August in early February 2021. At the same time, it was announced on February 14 that Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their second child.

Buckingham Palace confirmed this year that Markle and Harry would not be returning to their roles as royal family members. A source revealed that Markle is close to one member of the royal family:

"Eugenie is really the only member of the royal family that Meghan is still close to."

The friends have shared a few things since Markle joined that family. Eugenie and Markle both married their partners in 2018 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor castle.

Before their May and October weddings, the two couples were neighbors. The Sussex's lived at Nottingham cottage, and Eugenie and Brooksbank lived next to them in Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace.

However, the former royals have not formally moved out and will stay there during visits.

The friendship between Markle and Eugenie is not a total surprise as Eugenie and her cousin Harry have been close friends since they were children.

Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie explained in their book, "Finding Freedom" that the cousins are the closest among all of Queen Elizbeth's grandchildren:

"Out of all the Queen’s grand-children, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections. Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest and great fun."

Apparently, the two had a few wild nights out in London during their younger years. Now the cousins and their partners are bonding over parenthood.

Eugenie and Brooksbank are currently living in Harry and Markle's Frogmore Cottage in the UK as they start their lives as parents. However, the former royals have not formally moved out and will stay there during visits.

Harry and Markle are currently based in California after stepping down as royals, with their almost 2-year-old, Archie. The couple announced they were expecting a 2nd child with a gorgeous black and white photo of themselves.

Eugenie introduced her and Brooksbank's first child on her Instagram. Her son's full name is August Philip Hawke Brooksbank which honors 3 of the couple's ancestors.
