'Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head' Singer B J Thomas Reveals He Has Stage 4 Lung Cancer

Multi-talented singer BJ Thomas took to social media to reveal that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Thomas released a statement thanking his wife and family for the support.

BJ Thomas recently revealed on Facebook that doctors diagnosed him with stage four cancer. According to the post, he is currently receiving treatment.

The statement read: “Thomas is receiving treatment in a local health facility in Texas and is hopeful for a complete recovery.” In his statement, he shared that his music will continue to live on.

STAGE-4 CANCER DIAGNOSES

"I just wanted to take this unique opportunity to share my gratitude to Gloria, my wonderful wife, and my rock for over 53 years, my family, friends, and fans," he wrote. The 78-year-old shared that he is blessed to have shared his music with the world.

He continued to say he is blessed to have had the chance to record and perform songs in different musical genres and share them and memories worldwide with millions of his fans.

Thomas asked his fans to keep him in their prayers. "I ask all of you for your prayers during this time, and that my music can live on with you," he said.

The versatile artist ended off his note with his signature. The moving message also came with a picture of him wearing a black blazer with a white unbuttoned shirt.

According to People, the Grammy-winner remains optimistic that he will perform at upcoming tour dates beginning April 17 in Everett, Washington. Throughout his decades-long career, Thomas has reportedly won five Grammy Awards.

He went on to win a Grammy Award for best gospel performance contemporary or inspirational for his rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer” in 1981. The following year he won another Grammy Award for best inspirational performance again for his recording of "Amazing Grace."

HIS HIT SONG

According to Deadline, the hitmaker first broke into the music scene in 1966. The Oklahoma native's first song peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He went on to score another hit in 1968 with a song that went on to reach No.1. The following year, he recorded the song “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.”

He reportedly ranks in Billboard's top 50 most played artists of the last 50 years through his impressive track record. According to Kool1079, besides his Grammy Awards, he has also won two Dove Awards for his gospel albums and has sold more than 70 million albums.

Apart from his successful career, Thomas is also a family man and has three daughters with his beautiful wife. He is also a grandfather to three granddaughters.
