Vanity Fair: Prince Harry & Meghan Markle to Take Paternity and Maternity Leaves When Their Daughter Is Born
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly plan to take a joint paternity and maternity leave together when their daughter is born. The soon-to-be new parents plan to spend time bonding with their kids.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already laying down plans for the birth of their second child and first daughter. According to Vanity Fair, the duo intends to take both paternity and maternity leaves once their girl arrives.
Unlike after Archie’s birth, when Harry’s paternity leave only lasted for three days, the Sussexes are reportedly looking forward to spending ample time with their newborn and, overall, bonding as a family of four.

While Harry returned to work shortly after Archie’s birth, Meghan edited an issue of British Vogue and worked a design capsule for her patronage Smart Work. However, this time, they hope to make things different. A source explained:
“It will be the summer, and they want to make sure they both take their leave, so they have some real quality time together once the baby arrives.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly plan to welcome their daughter via a home birth at their home in Montecito, California. They intended to give birth to Archie in the same manner but plans changed when he was a week overdue.
If born in America, Harry and Meghan’s daughter will have dual citizenship.
For Prince Harry, who was recently appointed chief impact officer at a Silicon Valley startup targeted at mental health, Better Up, this would mean taking time away from his role in the corporate world.
The leave would also translate to Meghan and Harry taking a break from their multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify through the media company Archewell Foundation. The couple intends to put all things on hold.
The pair announced their second pregnancy on Valentine’s Day with a heartwarming photo of them in the backyard of their $14 million mansion. During their CBS Special with Oprah Winfrey, Harry and Meghan revealed they were expecting a girl.
If born in America, Harry and Meghan’s daughter will have dual citizenship of both the United States and the United Kingdom. She will be eighth in the line of succession and is unlikely to have a royal title.
The news of the Sussexes’ leave comes after a source close to the couple revealed that they have no regrets about their departure from the royal family. The insider claimed Harry believed moving to America was the best decision he made.
