Neil Patrick Harris Celebrates His 17th Year with David Burtka – Here's What He Had to Say

American actor Neil Patrick celebrated he and his spouse, David Burtka's 17th year together with a loving tribute on his Instagram page.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are celebrating 17 years of being together, and the former took to his Instagram page to post the sweetest tribute to his lover.

He shared a picture of them hanging out in a boat at sea. In the snapshot, Harris and Burtka posed, smiling with their heads meeting each other.

Harris wore a white singlet and put his hand over Burtka's shoulder. Burtka wore an off-white long-sleeved top with buttons. In the post's caption, Harris wished himself and Burtka a happy anniversary and described the latter as his top priority, baby, daddy, and best friend. He added:

"Going on a date with you seventeen years ago? Best. Decision. Ever. Thanks for the love, and the laughs, and the life. You're the best. @dbelicious."

Many fans gushed over Harris' beautiful message to Burtka. One fan described it as the nicest caption they had ever read, while another fan joked that the couple was beginning to look alike.

Last September, Harris and Burtka celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary. On that occasion, the actor also paid tribute to his husband by sharing a picture from their wedding, which was held in Italy in 2014.

Harris further revealed the surgery went according to plan and expressed his love for Burtka.

In the caption to his post, he thanked Burtka for creating and rocking his world, adding that he is forever grateful. He also described their wedding day as being "perhaps the happiest day of his life."

Earlier in the year, Burtka underwent intensive spinal surgery. Last month, Harris updated fans on the procedure, revealing it was one of the scariest things they had been through. In an Instagram post, he wrote:

"David is recovering from spinal surgery. It was fairly intensive, took over seven hours, but he's in good spirits and doing well."

Harris further revealed the surgery went according to plan and expressed his love for Burtka. He also confessed that the latter's strength inspires him.

Harris and Burtka first met in 2004. The "How I Met Your Mother" star once revealed that he could not take his eyes off Burtka on their first meeting.

After the meeting, they began hanging out platonically before going on their first formal date. The couple's first date was to see the movie, "Taking Lives," starring Angelina Jolie.

Harris, the first openly gay man to host the Oscars, is set to star in the upcoming fourth film of "The Matrix" franchise. The film will be released in 2022.
