Catherine Zeta-Jones on the Strong Connection Her Family Established Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

Catherine Zeta-Jones is a proud mom to two kids, Son Dylan and daughter Carys with her husband, Michael Douglas. She revealed that her family shared a strong connection amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the COVID-19 pandemic is nothing to be happy about, Zeta-Jones found a silver lining through it all. While on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," the actress revealed that the lockdown allowed her to spend much-needed time with Douglas and their two children.

The pandemic shifted the lives of millions worldwide, canceling prior commitments and plans to stay safe. For Zeta-Jones, it was a time where she was able to keep her loved ones around, which wasn't supposed to be how things went last year.

Her son Dylan came home from college, and her daughter Carys, who goes to school in Switzerland, flew back home as well. They were insider their bubble for months, and they played a lot of games together.

The "Entrapment" star commended her children for how they handled the pandemic as young adults, claiming they did not try to meet up with their other friends from high school who all live in the same street as them. Instead, they knew how serious the situation was and opted to stay home with their parents.

Although things have loosened up in New York City, the family continues to play it safe by staying at home most of the time. This week, the family celebrated a huge milestone, Carys' 18th birthday.

The proud mom shared a heartfelt tribute to her darling daughter on Instagram, even showing her followers what her daughter texted her at 5 AM that day. Carys thanked her mom for giving birth to her, which melted the actress' heart.

As for how they're looking forward to spending summer this year, Zeta-Jones hopes to have a more "outdoorsy" summer than last year. One thing guaranteed at this point is that she is set to spend it with her family.

Currently, her children are finishing up with their schooling in the next couple of weeks. Once they're done, the family will make more memories with one another wherever this summer takes them.

With both their parents being Hollywood A-listers, it is possible that both Carys and Dylan could take up acting in the future. Although both Douglas and Zeta-Jones have suggested other career options to their children, it seems acting is in the cards for them. She said:

"My kids went off to summer camp every year, to theater camp with all the Broadway kids, and held their own very, very well, I have to say."

She added that while people believe it's easier to get into the entertainment industry if your parents are in it, it's actually the opposite. There is a lot more pressure for children who try to follow in their parents' footsteps, as they are bound to be compared.

However, Zeta-Jones is positive that they will be able to pull through the same way her husband Michael did as the child of Hollywood icons Kirk and Diana Douglas. With a great role model, their children will know just what to do when the time comes should they want to venture into acting.
