People: J Lo, 51, Could Not Fully 'Trust' A-Rod, So She Ultimately Ended Their Engagement
According to sources, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez called off their two-year engagement this month, as Lopez could not fully trust him.
Various sources revealed to People why Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez called off their two-year engagement, which resulted in them breaking up for good this month.
Rumors first appeared in March 2021 of an impending breakup. However, both Lopez and Rodriguez stated that they were working on their relationship. Rodriguez even flew out to see Lopez on the set of her new movie, "Shotgun Wedding."

However, on April 15, the former couple released a joint statement to "Today," in which they announced that they would officially be going their separate ways while remaining friends.
The statement explained that the couple, who have been together since 2017, realized that they were better as friends and would remain so as they supported each other and their children. Part of the statement read:
"We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children."
The source revealed that the couple had wanted to stay together as a family for Easter so the children could spend time together. Lopez and Rodriguez each have two children, and the four kids grew close.
Lopez has her twins, Emme and Max, 13, who she shared with her ex, Marc Anthony. While Rodriguez shares his two daughters, Ella, 13, and Natasha, 16, with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
Although they did enjoy spending time together as a family, it was difficult to keep the spark of their relationship alive.
Unfortunately, the children will have to find ways to get together through their parents' split. A source revealed to People Lopez was the one who insisted on the breakup, as she did not trust Rodriguez.
Although many fans have speculated whether the couple's breakup was because of infidelity rumors surrounding Rodriguez, a source revealed that the couple had many unresolved issues, as Lopez felt:
"She has been pretty miserable and didn't think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex."
The couple's issues were exacerbated by the time they spent together in lockdown. Although they did enjoy spending time together as a family, it wasn't easy to keep the spark of their relationship alive.
The rumors of Rodriguez having an affair with Madison LeCroy when Lopez flew to the Dominican Republic did not help the situation either. However, both LeCroy and Rodriguez denied any physical relationship.
A source revealed that infidelity was not the cause of their split because whether or not the affair was true did not matter, as Lopez would not tolerate the fear of cheating between them.
The breakup has been hard for Lopez. However, she has leaned on her children. Anthony recently brought their children to the Dominican republic so the family could spend quality time together.
