Kotb stated that it was a bizarre experience after having her wedding plans set in stone, only to have them forcefully changed by the pandemic. This made replanning the wedding lose its original excitement.

The NBC star first announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend Schiffman in November 2019 and initially set their wedding date in August 2020, but it was moved to November due to the pandemic.

However, their nuptials was postponed once more due to the coronavirus. Instead of being discouraged by the fallout of her wedding plans, the bride-to-be found a silver lining in the situation.

Last year, the mother-of-two revealed that despite her enthusiasm to get married to her fiancé, she was just as happy enjoying her life at that time since the wedding had been postponed.

Kotb stated that she had come to realize that Schiffman, their two daughters, Hope Catherine and Haley Joy, plus herself were already a family, and they didn't require a wedding to prove that.

The 56-year-old reportedly met her longtime boyfriend, Schiffman, in the summer of 2013, when the TV personality made an appearance at an event for Wall Street professionals. In 2015, the pair publicly announced their relationship.

On November 25, 2019, Kotb shocked fans and her fellow co-stars on the "Today" show with her gorgeous engagement ring. She also revealed her fiance proposed during a romantic dinner at the beach.
