Who Is Meghan Markle's Brother Thomas Markle Jr Who Once Blamed Her for Being Homeless
The Duchess of Sussex’s family began making headlines even before she married Prince Harry. On his part, Meghan Markle’s brother once blamed her for being homeless.
Duchess Meghan’s older half-brother is Thomas Markle Jr. Apart from reportedly having alcohol issues, Thomas Jr. has been involved in many problems with the law.
Thomas and Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., married for the first time at 19. Although his and Roslyn Loveless’ relationship didn’t stand the test of time, they welcomed two children, Thomas Jr. and Samantha Markle.

THOMAS MARKLE JR.’S CHILDHOOD
The former couple divorced in the early 70s. After that, Thomas Sr. moved to Los Angeles and eventually landed a job as a lighting director on “General Hospital.”
During that time, he met Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. Although she was 12 years younger and was a trainee makeup artist on the soap opera, they hit it off right away and tied the knot in 1979.
In 1981, when Meghan was born, Thomas Jr. and Samantha were living with their father and Ragland in Los Angeles. Growing up, Thomas Jr. spent time smoking cannabis with friends, and his family had no problems with it.
Years went by, and the family broke apart. They stopped spending time together and faced some financial problems (Samantha filed for bankruptcy in 2003, and Thomas Jr. did the same in 2012).

THOMAS MARKLE JR.’S RELATIONSHIPS
As per Thomas Jr.’s love life, he was married to Tracy Dooley, the mother of his two sons, for eleven years. Unfortunately, Dooley accused her ex-husband of having alcohol issues.
In 2019, Meghan Markle’s half-brother was taken in custody by Oregon State Police for driving under the influence. His blood-alcohol concentration was .11%, .03% over the legal limit.
It was not the first time Thomas Jr. had problems with the law, though. In January 2017, he was arrested for holding a gun to Darlene Blount’s head – his then-girlfriend.
He allegedly did so because he wanted her to leave the house, but he ended up with charges for menacing, pointing a firearm at another person, and unlawful use of a weapon.
Following that incident, Thomas Jr. apologized, blamed his drinking problems, and claimed he was seeking help. One of his sons, Tyler, pointed out that his dad was not like that normally and added:
“I also want to apologize on behalf of my dad. Unfortunately, my father has a problem with alcohol. He is now in recovery.”
In January 2018, Blount was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, too, for getting in a fight with Thomas Jr. That July, she was retaken in custody following a “domestic violence call” at her and Thomas Jr.’s home.
While Thomas Jr. and Blount have faced several difficulties along the way, they got engaged in January 2019. Meghan Markle’s brother said he wanted to invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and hoped the wedding would bring the family closer together.

THOMAS MARKLE JR. ON BEING HOMELESS
Things got complicated for Thomas Jr. and his fiancée in April 2019 as their landlord forced them to move out for not paying three months of rent. If that wasn’t enough, the landlord claimed the couple left the house in a “disgusting” state.
Thomas Jr. defended himself by saying the damage in the property was regular “wear and tear” and even provided photos showing the Grants Pass, Oregon bungalow in good condition.
In March 2020, Thomas Jr. made headlines again after revealing that he could have been living under a bridge had his mother, Roslyn Loveless, not taken him in.
Thomas Jr., who is no longer in a relationship with Blount, blamed Prince Harry’s wife for being homeless. He claimed that being associated with her “nearly destroyed” him.
According to Thomas Jr., he has lost jobs due to the notoriety of being the Duchess’ half-brother. He also believes Meghan could have helped him but chose not to.
Meghan Markle’s brother, who confessed he feels "betrayed" and "forgotten" for having never seen his nephew Archie, admitted he even considered changing his last name to escape the “curse.” The Markles' problems seem far from over.
