One of the biggest tragedies that hit the family came in 2016 when her grandson, Andre Montgomery, was shot dead in a murder-for-hire plot.

The restaurateur believed the 21-year-old’s death to be a setup, as he received a call from an unknown person asking him to go outside seconds before the shooting.

Almost two decades before Andre’s death, his father, Andre Sr., also died in a Gangland attack which made the news of the youngster’s demise more heartbreaking.

Last year, authorities arrested the reality star’s second son, Tim Norman, in connection with the murder plot that claimed Andre’s life. However, the 41-year-old pleaded not guilty and demanded to be let out of jail to spend time with his mom while awaiting trial.

The presiding judge denied his request. Following Norman's arrest, fans offered words of consolation to the legendary songstress, encouraging her to remain steadfast. She released a statement shortly after, thanking fans for their support.

Before Norman’s arrest, he was involved in a legal entanglement with his mom following a 2016 lawsuit she filed against him over trademark infringement and misappropriation of funds.
