Actress and filmmaker Anjelica Huston married sculptor Robert Graham a couple of years after she and Jack Nicholson parted ways. Her life and career are nothing short of impressive.

Born in July 1951, Anjelica Huston has been involved in the entertainment industry since the late 60s when she starred in her father’s film “A Walk with Love and Death.”

Following her mother’s passing, Huston moved from the UK to the States and began modeling. In the 80s, she started actively pursuing an acting career and landed parts in “The Postman Always Rings Twice” and “Prizzi's Honor.”

UNUSUAL RELATIONSHIPS

Before making a name for herself as an actress, Huston had some tumultuous relationships. When she was only 17 years old, British actor James Fox seduced her.

Instead of attending classes, Anjelica Huston would go to Fox’s home. It is important to point out that he was 11 years older than her, was dating someone else, and was just using her.

When she realized Fox was actually in love with his girlfriend, she ended their relationship. Shortly after that, she began dating celebrity photographer Bob Richardson.

At the time, she was 18, and he was 42. Apart from their age difference, his mental health problems – bipolarity and schizophrenia – made their romance almost impossible.

The actress revealed he once threw a bottle of tequila at her, made a mess with her belongings, and said she was not “a real woman” because she wasn’t pregnant.

After another incident, they went to Mexico to release some stress, but they almost got shot dead by the police. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so they split for good.

DATING JACK NICHOLSON

In 1973, Anjelica Huston and Jack Nicholson met during his birthday party at his Los Angeles home. After dancing for hours, she spent the night with him. In no time, they were already living together.

She explained that she had a pretty good life with Nicholson but eventually felt she had no role other than being “on his arm.” Huston also said she had never lived alone, and Nicholson’s restrictions were frustrating.

The couple kept dating on and off and would reportedly speak on the phone frequently. Then, they worked together in “Prizzi’s Honor,” and she took home an Academy Award.

Nicholson and Huston were together for 17 years. During that time, his manager and lawyer would often present the idea of marriage to her “possibly […] to save Jack a lot of money in taxes.” It wasn’t romantic, so they never wed.

They tried to have children, but she never got pregnant. The actress revealed she could never picture herself being a mother, so she probably has no regrets about it.

[Graham] “started to die,” and Huston could do nothing but be with him and hold his hand.

ANJELICA HUSTON’S HUSBAND

Mexican sculptor Robert Graham and Anjelica Huston began dating shortly after she and Nicholson parted ways for good. They were introduced by a mutual friend during a Gay Pride weekend and tied the knot in 1992.

One of the most shocking aspects of their time together was that he built a house for her in Venice, California, in the early 90s. In 2014, she sold their 5,500 square feet mansion for $11 million.

Graham’s monumental art pieces – some of which feature female nudity – have been displayed at museums and public areas in the States, Mexico, France, Germany, England, and a few other countries.

Unfortunately, Robert Graham passed away over a decade ago in what Huston described as the hardest thing she’s experienced. After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, he took steroid drugs and had a heart attack and kidney failure.

He spent nine weeks in the hospital and made it out in good condition. Once at home, he “started to die,” and Huston could do nothing but be with him and hold his hand.

Two days after Christmas in 2008, Robert Graham died of granulomatosis with polyangiitis, a rare condition that causes inflammation of blood vessels.

Huston said people thought she was left with a lot of money, but it was quite the opposite as Graham didn’t have medical insurance. Fortunately, she hasn’t stopped working in show business.
