Fans praised Prince Charles after speaking about granddaughter Lilibet’s birth for the first time in public. Taking to Twitter, English journalist Chris Ship revealed what the royal said about his newborn grandchild.

“At the @BMW Mini factory in Oxford today, Prince Charles says his first words about Harry & Meghan's #babylilibet – his fifth grandchild: 'such happy news,' he calls it 'having recently become a grandfather for the fifth time,'" he tweeted.

Ship then shared a 10-second clip of the 72-year-old driving a green Mini Cooper inside the factory while wearing a blue face mask.

Twitter users weighed in on his comments and were happy about how the head of the Royal family spoke out about his granddaughter’s arrival into the world.

“Just what I thought when my grandchild was born at Christmas,” one person retweeted to Ship’s post while adding a wink emoji.

Another shared that she is glad and hopes both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will have peace of mind now, adding she likes Prince Charles because he is not what other people portray him to be.

The future King of England was the first royal member of The Firm to speak out about the arrival of the royal couple's daughter. He and his wife Camilla released a statement, including the Queen and the Cambridges, sharing they are delighted with the news.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall released a separate congratulatory message on social media and shared a photo of the Sussexes with their son Archie and wished them well.

Although Prince Charles made an effort, he and his second child Prince Harry still have some unresolved issues. Princess Diana's voice coach, Stewart Pearce, told Us Weekly there is still hope for the father and son to salvage their strained relationship.

Pearce revealed Prince Harry and Markle were troubled by the lack of support received from the household staff and then the unfortunate lapse of contact with his father.

Last month, the Duke of Sussex called out his father’s parenting skills and accused him of passing on a cycle of pain and suffering; hence he and his wife relocated from the UK to the US to break away from that cycle.

The 36-year-old shared Prince Charles treated him the way his parents treated him. He had previously contemplated leaving the royal family because of the negative impact the media had on his late mother’s life. The former pilot quit his royal duties last year.
