'Bachelor in Paradise' Contestants Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt Found Their Own Paradise — Inside the Couple’s Love Story
Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch’s love story has been making headlines since they were on “Bachelor in Paradise” season five. Their family is about to get bigger!
Loch and Wendt’s relationship started on the wrong foot. The couple met during the fifth season of “Bachelor in Paradise,” which premiered in August 2018. They briefly dated, but he broke things up in front of the cameras shortly before the season finale.
Fighting back the tears, Wendt told Loch he was not entirely sure if their relationship would last forever, and he didn’t want to be uncertain about it.

HIS WORST ENEMY
He admitted they were perfect in terms of personality, but “lifestyle-wise, I don’t know!” Wendt finally told Loch that she was the brightest star he’d ever met, but something was “missing.”
Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch’s time on “Bachelor in Paradise” ended following their split as they left Mexico shortly after. Fortunately, it was just the beginning of their love story.
When their breakup aired in September 2018, Wendt uploaded a photo of himself standing on the beach with his hands in his pockets and looking at the sky. In the caption, he called himself his “worst enemy.”
LIVING TOGETHER
In December 2018, three months after their breakup episode aired, Loch attracted a lot of attention after announcing she moved to Canada to live with Wendt.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, the TV personality explained that, during the summer of 2018, she decided to leave her job and pack everything in her apartment to be with Wendt.
She was not the only one gushing about their romance, though. Wendt once confessed he knew more things about Loch than any of his exes combined. He added:
“If you take away your phone and everything and just replace it with an ocean and a person, […] you’re gonna have a good chance of knowing in-depth who they are.”
In August 2019, Loch pointed out that their televised breakup was the best thing to happen to their relationship. It let them put their “TV show chapter” behind them and focus on figuring out what they really wanted to do with their relationship.
After moving to Canada, Loch and Wendt kept themselves away from the spotlight and focused on getting to know each other more. Instead of attending red-carpet events or movie premieres, they concentrated on enjoying “normal” couple things.
The coronavirus pandemic has prevented the couple from walking down the aisle.
POPPING THE QUESTION
Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch made headlines again in September 2019 after announcing their engagement. Wendt proposed during a sunset picnic in an intimate area of Toronto Island on August 28, 2019.
He confessed he restarted his playlist about five times so that Dan + Shay’s “Tequila” was playing when he began his speech. It was a nod to their meeting in Mexico as they drank “a lot of tequila.”
Wendt also confessed he didn’t see Loch just as a girlfriend but as family, and since letting her go again was not an option, popping the question was a “no-brainer.”
Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has prevented the couple from walking down the aisle. In July 2020, they announced on social media that their wedding was postponed to November 2021.
Not everything has been bad news, though. In May 2021, Astrid Loch revealed she’s expecting a baby. Wendt said the wedding would probably keep getting pushed off, but they didn’t want to wait “five years” to have a child.
Conceiving their child had been challenging, too, as they had tried the traditional way for a year. However, it didn’t work, and Loch underwent an unsuccessful Intrauterine Insemination before getting IVF treatments. On the second cycle, she ended up with an ectopic pregnancy.
After terminating that pregnancy, she couldn’t get any more IVF treatments for three months. She eventually resumed treatment and got pregnant. Astrid Loch is about five months into her pregnancy, and her fans cannot wait for the upcoming Bachelor Nation baby!
