Henry Cavill may have featured in a series of modern movies and become a popular figure amongst movie lovers, but his traditional approach to dating once earned him the wrath of fans.

The "Me Too Movement" swept through the world like an ocean, leaving behind stories of abuse and bringing predators to the spotlight. Also, comments which people perceived to belittle women were easily flagged no matter who made them.

Hollywood star actor Henry Cavill, notable for his roles in "Superman" and "The Witcher," found himself on the receiving end of fans' wrath following a comment he made in a 2018 interview with GQ Australia.

During the interview, the 38-year-old was alleged to have made some insensitive comments about women and the movement. Cavill noted that he was afraid of flirting with women in public for fear of being called a rapist.

The actor was quoted to have said, "There's something wonderful about a man chasing a woman. There's a traditional approach to that, which is nice. I think a woman should be wooed and chased, but maybe I'm old-fashioned for thinking that."

Shortly after the politically incorrect statement was made, Twitter users took to the platform to call him out. One user pointed that not all women want to be chased. The user wrote,

"Hey Henry Cavill...have you ever thought...women don't want to be 'chased'. Just think about that word choice for a hot second and how aggressive it is."

Another user who found the comment offensive wasted no time in slamming the actor. She wrote, "When did the notion that being chased is a *pleasant* feeling become so universally accepted?

The actor in a post warned trolls from sending hate comments to his girlfriend.

Despite the many sticks he received, some fans saw the other side of Cavill's comment, noting that was a case of miscommunication. One fan wrote,

"I genuinely think Henry Cavill had courting in mind when he said "chased." He didn't mean harassment. He meant taking initiative to communicate and plan dates."

Although he had fans rooting for him, Cavill took the bold step of calming the raging storm before it devoured him any further. The actor reportedly released a statement where he explained that he did not aim to hurt anyone or sound insensitive.

Also, "The Witcher" star maintained that he held and continues to hold women in high regard. He added that the experience taught him a valuable lesson as to the context and the nuance of editorial liberties.

Cavill recently demonstrated his love and respect for women after he was seen defending his girlfriend, Natalie Viscuso. The actor in a post warned trolls from sending hate comments to his girlfriend, noting that they should keep their comments to themselves.

Cavill and his girlfriend only confirmed their relationship this year and have shared a few cute pictures of their moments together.

For fans who want to know all about Viscuso, she is reportedly the vice president of television and digital studios at Legendary Entertainment. Clearly, she must have thrilled the "Superman" star beyond imagination and vice versa.
