USHER SR., AN AMAZING FATHER
Usher shares his little daughter with his girlfriend, Jenn Goicoechea. The pair welcomed their bundle of joy on September 30, 2020, and not long after, the proud dad made a surprising revelation about his daughter's birthday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Usher Sr. made it known that Sovereign Bo was born earlier than expected. He joked about Sovereign Bo being scheduled to be a Scorpio, but according to him, the little girl had a different plan. Since her arrival, Usher Sr. has enjoyed every bit of fatherhood and has spoken candidly about it.
He once mentioned that he loved being a girl's dad, and he was already changing his colors. The songwriter said he was wearing pink and doing interesting things with his daughter.
Usher Sr. also referred to his little girl as the silver lining for him and his partner, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. Usher Sr. is not the only one who enjoys the company of the adorable child; the singer's sons also love having a baby sister around.
Even though Usher Sr. loves showing off his kids, he also loves living his life away from the spotlight. Over the years, many have attributed his secrecy to his ugly divorces.
USHER SR. AND TAMEKA FOSTER
Usher Sr. and Tameka Foster tied the knot in 2007. The pair was one of the most admired couples, and shortly after their wedding, they welcomed their sons, Naviyd and Usher Jr.
Usher Sr. also became a stepfather to Foster's two kids, Kile and Ryan, from her previous relationships. Usher Sr. and Foster's union quickly went sour, and two years after they got married, the pair divorced.
Shortly after, the pair were involved in a custody battle for their boys. While fighting for custody, more tragedy struck in 2012 when Kile was declared brain dead.
He had been hit by a jet ski on Lake Lanier in Atlanta, and a day later, he was taken off life support, and Kile passed away. After Kile's funeral, Usher Sr. and Foster made the headlines again.
The latter had accused the singer of not attending Kile's funeral. Usher Sr. denied all allegations leveled against him and shared his thoughts on the accusations. He noted that it was disappointing to hear people say he was not at the funeral when he was indeed present.
The dancer said he shared a good relationship with his stepson and missed him greatly. Usher Sr. and Foster's relationship grew further apart as they continued their legal battle.
In 2013, the mother of four filed for emergency custody of her sons after Naviyd was involved in a near-death swimming pool incident.
Naviyd was rushed to the ICU after being trapped in a drain at the swimming pool in his father's house. Foster alleged that there was no supervision of the young boys while they were swimming.
However, her claims fell on deaf ears, and soon after, the case was dismissed, with Usher Sr. retaining custody of the children.
Usher Sr. tagged his marriage at 28 to Foster as the best mistake he had ever made, and since the unfortunate experience, he has kept his life and kids away from the public eye.
