Woman Gives Birth to Miracle Baby Girl – Now She's Worried for Her Own Life
Joanna Jonathan believes she is the first person in the UK with stage 4 cancer to give birth to a child, but now she worries about the time she has left.
Cancer has taken many lives around the world abruptly and without notice. Still, many diagnosed with the illness choose to live their lives normally until they lose the battle.
Joanna Jonathan is among those brave souls. Two years ago, six months after welcoming her firstborn Freya, Joanna was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

She was brave through it all and conceived another baby while receiving treatment. The 36-year-old recently welcomed another daughter, Dylann, whom she calls a miracle child. She shared:
“Obviously, it was quite a shock because we were told when I was first diagnosed that more children wouldn’t be an option. [...] I’m the first person in the UK with stage 4 cancer to have a baby.”
Joanna credits her oncologist for helping her bring another child into this world. She also revealed that she had an easy pregnancy and that the baby came in a healthy state in June, despite the odds.
While she is happy and grateful to have received such a blessing, worrying about herself and the kids came naturally. Like any parent, Joanna wants to live a long and healthy life to watch her kids grow.
“It’s been stressful, and especially as we know I’m incurable, so there’s a lot of questions raised as to whether we’re doing the right thing,” she said.
At present, the mom-of-two is taking one day at a time while trying to live in the present with her family. Cancer aside, Joanna feels well and at peace with her kids.
Apart from welcoming Dylann, she also married her boyfriend, Daniel, in November 2020. Initially, the couple planned to tie the knot in April but postponed it amidst the pandemic.
Fitzgerald was diagnosed with bowel cancer during her pregnancy and had to undergo surgery to remove the tumor while pregnant.
Daniel gave his wife strength throughout the pregnancy and cared for her and the kids every day. To be prepared for what may come, the couple already talked about Joanna’s wishes for the kids.
Joanna is not the only mom who recently had a miracle baby. Previously, Kate Fitzgerald gave birth to a healthy baby girl after her uterus was removed.
Fitzgerald was diagnosed with bowel cancer during her pregnancy and had to undergo surgery to remove the tumor while pregnant.
“What they had to do was pull the baby outside of my body while they got in and operated on the bowel behind,” she shared.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and in March of this year, she welcomed baby Ava. Another mom, Niomi Allan, experienced a miracle when she welcomed her firstborn without a womb, thinking she would never have a child.
