The story of a woman who found love again after she was dumped by her husband, five days after being paralyzed from a stroke, recently became a viral piece of news.

After suffering a terrible spinal stroke, 18 months after an accident in March 2015, Riona Kelly was left in shambles after being told the stroke had resulted in total paralysis from the waist down.

A native of Halifax, Yorkshire, England, and a mother of four children — Caleb, Izabela, Logan, and Leighanra — Kelly was immediately rushed to a hospital upon her medical emergency, only to receive worse news shortly after.

Five days after being admitted to the hospital, Kelly's husband decided to call it quits on their 14 years of marriage. The divorce news added more salt to the injury, as Kelly was still recovering from her terrible stroke.

Kelly recalled how she was abandoned in the hospital by her husband and only received support from her children and her friend, Sarah. Then, six weeks into her stay at the hospital, things got even worse for Kelly.

She still couldn't move her legs, and the doctors broke the sad news that she may never walk again. Kelly felt like dying, as living in a wheelchair was not the life she had dreamt of, but she decided not to lose hope.

Kelly finally began physiotherapy, and hours later, she started taking her first few steps on the parallel bar. It was not only an emotional moment for the paralyzed woman, but her consultant, who was present at the time, also shared her joy.

Physiotherapy continued for a few months, and after spending four months in the hospital, she was finally allowed to go home to continue her recovery process. After leaving the hospital, Kelly sought personal trainers but got none due to her physical state.

In January 2016, things began to take a turn for the better for Kelly, after she met personal trainer Keith Mason, who decided to train her despite her paralysis. Her relationship with Mason soon got deeper after a few sessions together, and the pair became romantically involved.

The lovebirds' romance was a great relief to Kelly. Finally, she felt like she had the life she deserved, and her physical health improved. Kelly began walking short distances without a wheelchair and started working out in the gym.

But what seemed like a happy life for Kelly soon changed into another traumatic experience. The mom of four suffered another stroke, which left the right side of her body succumbing to paralysis.

Kelly was quickly rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the damage had been done, and every progress on her previous recovery was lost. Mason described the experience as a bitter pill to swallow, but irrespective of the situation, he never gave up on Kelly.

Three and a half weeks into Kelly's stay in the hospital, she began learning to move her arms again, and shortly after, she was out of the hospital, with Mason by her side. Overall, the duo wants the public not to lose hope, despite how challenging any situation might be.
