WHO IS LORNE MACFADYEN?
Like his girlfriend, he made quite the name in the industry and is known for his appearance in various films. His most notable roles include playing Angus Tulloch in the British crime drama "Shetland."
His other film credits include playing right-hand man Darryl Quinn in "The Level" and Neil Bruce, the younger brother of Robert I, the 14th century Scottish King in the historical action drama "Outlaw King."
He also appears on "Tina & Bobby," as Bobby, a young footballer who believes football is his life. However, things change when he meets a local girl, Tina Dean. They fall in love and build their lives together. He said of the role, as The Sun reports:
"You really see the rise and fall of a sporting icon. It's a relationship drama at its heart, a love story between two people."
In 2017, he played Detective Sergeant Phil Wilkinson on the 1950's detective drama "Grantchester." Other films he's appeared in include "The Little Stranger," "The Angel's Share," "The Liberator," "Pistol," and "Operation Mincemeat."
A LONG JOURNEY TO FAME
And while her roles have mushroomed into a full-blown acting career, Algar's path to fame was a treacherous one. When she first began acting, she did not have her family's support.
Everyone around her tried persuading her against taking that path. However, Algar was determined to get on the big silver screens, even if it meant selling her belongings to reach that goal. She recalls:
"I had enough people telling me not to do it. I kind of thought, 'this is on me, and I don't have to prove to anyone that what I want to do is the right choice."
She sold her household items, such as the camera equipment she had saved for a long time if only to afford rent. Thankfully, her resilience soon bore fruit, and she has since appeared in films such as "MotherFatherSon," "Pure," and "Raised By Wolves."
She also appeared as Lizzie James, an undercover police officer in "Deceit," a miniseries based on the true story of a controversial, covert operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police in 1992.
REUNITING AFTER A LONG WHILE APART
Due to the pandemic, the star of "The Last Right" was forced to spend time away from her boyfriend, who'd been working in London while she spent ten days quarantining in a hotel room. However, the two were more than thrilled to be reunited upon her release.
To make up for lost time, the actor who calls London home, has spent plenty of time in Dublin with his Irish girlfriend, who people recognize as Dinah in the enthralling drama "The Virtues."
