Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles know that the Met Gala is like no other red-carpet event. It is the only space celebrities and designers have to truly explore fashion (as long as they stick to the gala's theme).

Most of us remember that Wilde wowed the world at the Met Gala 2016 with a custom black Michael Kors dress while pregnant, and Styles did the same three years later with an iconic sheer, black Gucci blouse.

WHY HARRY STYLES AND OLIVIA WILDE SKIPPED THE 2022 MET GALA

It's been over a year since Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde's dating rumors went viral, but they have never spoken about their romance in public.

Although fans expected them to make their red-carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala 2022, they didn't even show up separately.

While Wilde and Styles didn't reveal where they were on May 2, they posted on their social media accounts. The musician promoted his May 20 concert in New York, and the actress-turned-director shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of her film "Don't Worry Darling."

Netizens shared their disappointment on Twitter, writing that the Met Gala needed Styles. Another user pointed out that the event should have been canceled without Styles.

HARRY STYLES AND OLIVIA WILDE'S RELATIONSHIP TIMELINE

Even with no public confirmation, it is easy to conclude that Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are dating. They met in September 2020 after he replaced Shia LaBeouf as Florence Pugh's husband in "Don't Worry Darling."

The couple probably hit it off right away as they were seen holding hands in January 2021 during Jeffrey Azoff's (Styles' manager) wedding in California. During the event, Styles reportedly called Wilde, his girlfriend.

Their relationship has raised some eyebrows. Around the time Azoff's wedding happened, Olivia Wilde's ex-fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, was supposedly "heartbroken" about their split.

Everybody thought Sudeikis and Wilde parted ways in early 2020, but he allegedly still hoped they could get back together by early-2021. Further reports disputed Sudeikis and Wilde's breakup timeline.

When rumors about Styles being a factor in Wilde and Sudeikis' separation hit the internet, it was reported that the actress only called off her engagement after getting closer to Styles in November 2020.

Still, Wilde and Styles had a great time working together in "Don't Worry Darling." She even praised him on Valentine's Day 2021 for working hard on his supporting role in her film. In April 2022, she attended Styles' Coachella concert.

OLIVIA WILDE AND JASON SUDEIKIS' DIVORCE

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis' breakup made headlines again in April 2022 when the "Ted Lasso" actor served Wilde legal documents regarding the custody of their children during her CinemaCon presentation

Sources claimed Sudeikis did not condone the inappropriate timing Wilde received the papers. He had no control over the time or place Wilde would get them as it was the delivery service company's responsibility.

Sudeikis allegedly would never try to shame or embarrass Wilde because they are still family (they share son Otis and daughter Daisy). People kept wondering if the CinemaCon drama influenced Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles' decision not to make their red-carpet debut at the Met Gala.
