Jason Momoa Found New 10 Years Younger Love after His 5-Year Marriage to Lisa Bonet Ended

After being together for 16 years and being married for five, "Aquaman" star Jason Momoa and "Angel Heart" actress Lisa Bonet have separated. And in an unexpected turn of events, the actor already found someone to take Bonet's place.

Momoa and Bonet's relationship was straight off a novel, and for most of their romance, Momoa referred to Bonet as his "dream woman." Fans and celebrities alike were in awe of how much the two adored each other.

It was thus a shock to everyone when Momoa announced that they were splitting up after over two decades together in a since-deleted joint statement on the actor's Instagram page. However, their split was not a spontaneous decision, and they would soon share their reasons.

Momoa and Bonet have been together since they first met in 2005 after mutual friends introduced them at a jazz club in Los Angeles. Momoa says as soon as he saw her, fireworks went off inside. And after sharing a meal at Cafe 101, they hit it off.

The couple married officially in 2017 and are parents to two children, daughter Lola, and son Nakoa-Wolf. However, even as their union became the epitome of romances, it is now clear that, as the saying goes, nothing is as it seems.

While fans and celebrities gushed over how much the couple, who is 12 years apart, gushed over each other, it is now clear that they had been experiencing trouble in their union for years. And as a source would tell ET:

"Jason and Lisa were struggling in their relationship for quite some time."

Trouble started brewing in paradise years ago but became heightened as Momoa was away shooting "Aquaman 2." His time away from home appears to have been the final nail in the coffin.

When they met back in 2005, Momoa's career had not taken off, but as years progressed, he began landing more prominent roles and consequently started working more.

And in as much as he wished to keep working as much as he could, Bonet "had no interest in joining" Momoa everywhere he went to work as she enjoyed her life in Los Angeles.

The pandemic also seemed to have caused a rift in their marriage and reportedly capped their already struggling relationship. As an insider would tell People:

"They have grown apart, and the pandemic capped it."

It is also typical for individual goals to change, and reports say the couple grew apart because of their different focuses, and the two were looking to "explore other things."

The iconic couple's relationship worked because they were different. "[Momoa] was jovial, loud, and the center of attention, and Lisa was always cool, calm, and subdued," a source told Us Weekly, adding:

"That energy really started to cause friction because they wanted to live different lives. Jason wanted to travel and adventure much more. Lisa would rather read, write poetry and cook at home."

Regardless, they remain respectful of each other and will maintain a mature and peaceful separation for the sake of their children.

KATE BECKINSALE — WHAT WAS THAT?

In the wake of their separation, Momoa reportedly already found love. Only months after the shocking announcement that he was splitting from the "High Fidelity" actress, Momoa was spotted in the company of actress Kate Beckinsale at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in April.

The two were at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts when the actor, who looked dapper in a navy blue suit, slipped his coat onto the sequin-gown-clad Beckinsale.

Reports say "The Sweet Girl" actor leaned into her, eventually resting his head on her face. He could not take his eyes off the model, raising speculation of a possible romance brewing between them.

However, Momoa denied any romantic involvement with the English actress. The actor claimed he was having a simple conversation about her country, England, where he had spent plenty of time filming "Aquaman," and was only displaying an act of chivalry when he offered his coat. He told Extra:

"Everyone is like, 'Are you dating?' No, no, it was chivalry. The woman was cold. She is very nice. I was being very nice, just being a gentleman. Now, I am not giving my coat to anyone."

THE NEW LOVE

And while Momoa was only being nice to Beckinsale, other rumors hit the headlines. Numerous reports said the actor was now involved with actress Eiza González. "Eiza and Jason are dating. It's very casual," a source told Us Weekly, adding:

"But they are having fun and getting to know each other."

Confirmation about their romance came when Momoa attended the premiere of González's film "Ambulance" in April, shortly after shutting down rumors about him and Beckinsale.

Momoa and González started as friends, but eventually, their underlying chemistry became undeniable, and they decided to give it a chance and see where it would go.

González reportedly likes "[Momoa's] attention and laid-back vibes," while Momoa is said to care about the "Baby Driver" actress, just as sources said he cared for Bonet after their split. And even though they later confirmed their relationship, an insider would tell People:

"They're both busy with work but are having fun together. It's nothing serious yet."
