Meghan Markle and Prince Harry met through a mutual friend, and from that point on, they never looked back and have been conquering the world ever since. On how they crossed paths, the Duke said it was when he knew the American native was the one.

Britain's Prince Harry and Hollywood actress Meghan Markle were brought together by a mutual friend on a blind date in London in 2016.

The Duke of Sussex later told the media that meeting the Duchess was "beautiful" and that that was how he knew that he would marry her one day.

"Beautiful," said Prince Harry, adding, Meghan "just tripped and fell into my life." After going on just two dates, the couple went on a holiday together in Botswana.

Of how they fell in love, the Duke said their romance blossomed "so incredibly quickly," which proved that the "stars were aligned" for them.

He and Markle avoided the press for months during their courtship, and it was not until their appearance at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto that they were photographed together, holding hands.

When Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with Markle in late 2016, he warned the media of their attack on his significant other, accusing them of abuse, harassment, and bombardment of her loved ones.

Despite that, their love for each other grew even more. The "Suits" alum even declared that to Vanity Fair magazine in September 2017, saying: "Personally, I love a great love story."

Markle noted that she and her future husband were having a good time together and were happy and in love. They cemented what they already had when they decided to make things official.

In November 2017, Prince Harry proposed to the California native at Kensington Palace as they made roasted chicken together. They wed in May 2018 in Windsor.

In Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand's book titled "Finding Freedom," details about Markle meeting her future brother-in-law Prince William are discussed.

The pair first met in early November 2016, and though she was well-prepared for a "grilling" session, the Duke of Cambridge was friendly to her. The Duchess visited Prince William at his Kensington Palace home, Apartment 1A, along with Prince Harry.

Scobie and Durand wrote that Markle believed Prince William would want to know everything about her, including her intentions with his younger brother.

"She was self-aware enough to understand that the brothers were wary of women who were more interested in their titles than their well-being. And she couldn't have come from a more different world than that of William, his wife, and most of their friends," the authors stated.

A confidant added that because of the difference in their backgrounds, Markle "had thought the entire meeting through. She prepared herself for a grilling," said the source.

However, the meeting turned out completely different than she had imagined. She and Prince William got along well after he first said to her:

"I was looking forward to meeting the girl who has put that silly grin on my brother's face."

But things went sour after Markle married into the Royal Family. It put her at odds with the Duke of Cambridge when she and her spouse continuously broke royal traditions, including their ultimate decision to step away from their royal life in England.

In October 2020, The Mercury News reported that royal expert Robert Lacey revealed in his book, "Battle of Brothers" that Prince William had always been on guard and annoyed by his sister-in-law.

Lacey claimed that as the future king of England, the royal was concerned about the monarchy's survival, and it was evident that he perceived Markle as a disruptor. After the Sussexes announced their departure from royal duties, he disclosed Prince William confided in a friend, saying that he was cutting the cord with him:

"I put my arm around my brother all our lives. I can't do it anymore. We're separate entities."

Lacey explained that statement by saying it meant Markle's presence in Prince Harry's life became a threat to his older brother because he could not control him as before.

When Markle came into her husband's life, his relationship with his brother became strenuous. They were not on speaking terms when the royal couple announced their engagement in 2017. "The problem was William," Lacey stated.

He allegedly grew tired of Markle and Prince Harry's "prima donna" maneuvers to keep details of their first child, Archie's birth, a secret, including the names of his godparents.

THE BRITISH PRESS HOUNDED MARKLE

Prince Harry knew well enough what the British press was capable of. He witnessed their relentless warpath on royal women firsthand from the trauma of his late mother's last hours.

They previously evaded one of his ex-girlfriends' privacy and villainized every woman in the Royal Family except for the Queen. Even Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, was tormented about class and social climbing.

In addition to the media attention, Prince William believed Prince Harry was moving too fast with his relationship with Markle from the beginning, author Tina Brown alleged in "The Palace Papers."

Brown revealed to Town and Country in April 2022 that an insider had told her that Prince William wanted Markle to adjust to her life in the UK and befriend people who did not have to be brought in confidence to the palace.

Brown noted that while it had been difficult for Middleton, Markle was a glamorous Hollywood star who would be the first woman of color to join the Royal Family. These factors would amount to the added pressure the family received. She further explained Prince William's worries regarding his brother's mental health:

"Unspoken to Harry, the person said, was the older brother's fear that Harry's mental fragility was such that he wouldn't be strong enough to handle all of that on her behalf and his own issues."

However, in contrast to Prince William's concerns, his younger sibling thought it best to marry Markle to protect her. The Duke of Sussex reportedly said he was told to wed the "Random Encounters" star and immediately so because as soon as he did, she would then get police protection.

According to a palace insider who contributed to a book by Christopher Andersen titled "Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry And Meghan," Prince Harry hit a breaking point when his brother questioned his fast-moving romance with Markle.

He reportedly yelled out to Prince William, "Who the hell do you think you are?" in September 2017 when he hinted that he was about to propose to Markle, prompting his sibling to ask, "Why rush things?"

He stood up and told the Duke that he and Markle would marry regardless of anyone who would want to stand in their way and headed out the door.

Prince Harry stood by his word and eventually wed Markle in May 2018 in front of 600 guests at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. The bride donned a white boat-neck gown designed by Clare Waight Keller, and her future father-in-law, Prince Charles, walked her down the aisle.

After making her way to the altar, her soon-to-be husband told her: "You look amazing." Following the exchange of their wedding vows, the newly-wedded couple kissed in front of a cheering crowd on the chapel's steps.

Interestingly, he and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, teamed up to select a tiara for Markle ahead of their wedding day.

Via People, the soon-to-be bride and the prince went to Buckingham Palace to meet with the monarch to choose from the options provided, "which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine," Markle revealed.

Her spouse added that it is "every girl's dream to be able to try on a tiara," and the one his wife wore, which was Queen Mary's Filigree tiara, was a perfect choice.

His spouse had a surprise for him, which featured detail on her wedding gown veil. Markle's veil featured intricate embroidery; the 16-foot-veil was embroidered specifically with signature flowers from all the countries in the British Commonwealth.

The Duchess shared how stunned her husband was when he found out about the intimate gesture, adding that he was not the only one overjoyed by the tribute. She said other royal family members reacted the same way.

Moreover, ahead of the Queen's annual Christmas broadcast in December 2019, the monarch reportedly removed a portrait of her grandson and his wife from her desk. Taken aback, Prince William was allegedly "appalled" by that and believed it would upset his younger sibling.

At the time, the Sussexes were in Canada just before they stepped down as senior royal members the next month. Ahead of Her Majesty's televised message, she made a last-minute change that supposedly left her oldest grandson shocked. Brown, a bestselling author, revealed:

"Her Majesty pointed at a winsome portrait of Harry, Meghan, and baby Archie. 'That one. I suppose we don't need that one.'"

In May 2022, the Queen's great-grandson Archie celebrated his third birthday. Despite the rift between the couple and the Firm, the prince's relatives paid birthday tributes to his first child.

The Queen's Instagram page posted a photo on her Insta Story showing the royal matriarch and Prince Philip greeting Archie when he was an infant.

The image featured Markle holding her newborn, including her mom, Doria Ragland, and her husband, Prince Harry. "Wishing Archie-Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 3rd Birthday!" the message read.

Archie's grandfather Prince Charles also posted a picture on his Instagram Stories that showed him looking over his grandchild as a baby in the arms of Prince Harry with the caption that read: "Happy Birthday Archie!"

Despite being at odds with one another, Prince William and his wife Middleton posted a sweet tribute to their nephew on their Instagram, writing: "Wishing Archie a very happy 3rd birthday today," alongside a portrait of the Royal Family.

The Sussexes confirmed their visit to the UK in June 2022 for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. However, they will not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Color.

A source explained the exclusion of the royal couple was because they are no longer working members of the Royal Family. Prince Harry's uncle Prince Andrew is also excluded from the balcony as he no longer works as a royal member because of his association with the notorious Jeffrey Epstein.
