Fans tuning in for the season 17 premiere of "America's Got Talent" will notice that the judge, Simon Cowell, is sporting a different look. His hand was in a cast after he suffered from an accident.

Simon Cowell is a record producer, talent scout, and consultant popularly known for his scathing comments as a judge of any talent show from "American Idol" to "The X Factor," and now "America's Got Talent."

Since the show's start in 2006, Simon Cowell has served as its executive producer. He is back at the judges' table for Season 17 of the show, which premiered on May 31, 2022.

The premiere saw the return of other judges like Sofía Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, with the host Terry Crews. It was a great episode with talented participants.

During the show, Cowell, spotted with a hand-cast, told the last performer, Avery Dixon, that playing the saxophone was in his blood and it was his destiny, and of course, Dixon got the first golden buzzer for season 17.

2022 started on a rough note for Cowell. In February, he revealed that he was having a tough time. He said:

"In one week, I broke my wrist, tooth fell out because I was eating peanut brittle, [and then] a day after that, I tested positive for COVID."

Simon was riding his electric bike in the winter of 2022 when he had the accident that left him wearing a hand cast. With his electric motor turned on, he was riding along when his wheels abruptly slipped out from under him after hitting a puddle.

According to a passerby, the father of one slid and landed in the center of the road. The source also said Cowell was not wearing his helmet and had blood pouring from his face.

Cowell was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and given an X-ray before releasing him that evening. The hospital put his arm in a cast and told him to rest.

Despite the accident, Cowell refused to ditch his bike but said he would start wearing his helmet. He revealed that the worst part of the accident was when his son told him off for not wearing his helmet.

The accident was not the first time Cowell had been involved in a bike accident. In 2020, he broke his back when he fell off while testing his new electric bike at his home.

His spokeswoman revealed that the fall caused him a back injury, and they took Cowell to the hospital. She further stated that he was doing well, was being monitored, and was in the best possible hands.

However, he needed surgery that evening. The extent of Cowell's injuries was not clear, and there was no idea what caused him to fall.

It was also not the first time he had suffered from a fall. Cowell revealed that the incident made him realize that no one was invincible.
