When Gina got a phone as a present, she asked her grandson, Josh, to teach her how to use it. However, he was always busy. She continued to ask, and he still refused, until something unexpected happened that prevented him from using it, and he had to turn to Gina, who surprised him.

"Josh, please. Your grandpa bought me this phone, and I have no idea how to use it. My friend, Mrs. Cornish, said she reads some amazing short stories online that she finds on the Facebook. But I don't know how to get the Facebook. Can you help me?" Gina begged her grandson, who was the only person home that day.

Her husband had bought her a smartphone for her birthday, but he had no idea how to use it himself, so Gina went to her daughter's house, which was right next door in their neighborhood in Connecticut. Josh was the only person home that day, and naturally, she asked him.

"Sorry, Grandma. I have to leave for baseball right now. I can't," Josh answered from the couch, his eyes locked on his own phone. Then he stood up, grabbed his baseball bag, and left.

Josh's friend sent his homework through emails and text messages and Josh couldn't operate his phone. That's when he realized something ironic.

"Ok, sweetie. Maybe, later," she called out, and Josh waved back at her as he walked out to get to his practice.

Over the next few days, Gina went to see Josh several times, hoping he would finally have time to help her out. However, Josh always had something to do.

"Sorry, Grandma. I have homework."

"Sorry, Grandma. I'm going to the movies."

"Sorry, Grandma. I'm not in the mood right now."

Finally, it seemed like Josh was annoyed at her. "Grandma, you can just Google how to do it, or ask Mom. I can't do it right now. Leave me alone!" he told her forcefully, and Gina finally got the hint.

She finally stopped asking him and tried to do her best to learn how to use the phone. She used Google just like he suggested and asked a few neighborhood kids who were willing to teach her how to download the Facebook app and start following pages she was interested in.

It was simpler than she imagined; soon enough, she connected with friends she hadn't spoken to in years. What a marvelous technology! And she particularly enjoyed reading short inspirational stories from a particular site.

"Honestly, darling, if I don't watch myself, I could spend hours on that phone," Gina told her daughter, Oona, in her house. They were in the living room, and Josh was making dinner that night.

"Wow, Mom! You're hipper than I am! I don't even spend time on my phone at all. Maybe you should teach me what to do," Oona laughed with her mother. They continued talking until they heard a loud clang from the kitchen, and suddenly, Josh was crying out.

"MOM!"

Oona stood up quickly, as only a mother rushing to her needy child would. Gina followed and discovered that Josh had accidentally burned both his hands trying to rinse the boiling pasta water for dinner.

"Oh dear!" she exclaimed.

"Mom, I think we need to go to the emergency room. These burns look pretty bad," Oona said, grabbing some ice, putting it in a clean kitchen towel, and covering Josh's hands.

"Yes, I'll drive," Gina said and rushed to her house to get her car.

The doctor said Josh would be fine after a few days, but his hand would be bandaged until then. Josh was also advised to skip school and baseball practice for a while so he could rest and get better quicker.

Oona arranged for Josh's best friend to pass on his assignments so he wouldn't miss anything during his absence from school. However, Josh's friend sent his homework through emails and text messages and Josh couldn't operate his phone. That's when he realized something ironic. He had to ask his grandmother to help him out.

He wondered if she would say no because he had been so mean and dismissive when she requested his help. Would she be forgiving enough to help him, or would she get back at him with the same treatment?

"Grandma," he started hesitantly. Gina had come over to make him lunch because he was not supposed to use his hands, and she turned around from the kitchen counter, looking at him expectantly. "Can you help me check my emails?"

"Oh," Gina hesitated, and Josh braced himself for her imminent rejection. But she cleaned her hands on a kitchen towel and approached him. "Of course. You need to get your assignments, right? Let's see."

Gina grabbed his phone and started searching around. She went to his email app and, with a few indications, downloaded everything he needed to complete his homework. Then she grabbed his laptop and they started working together to complete his assignments. They ate sandwiches during the process, and their afternoon passed rapidly.

When they were done, Josh looked at his grandmother in chagrin. "Grandma, thank you for helping me with this. I was so mean before. I should've helped you with your phone when you got it," he apologized.

Gina looked at him with adoration and ruffled his hair. "Yes, you should've, sweetie. But I'm your grandmother. I'll always be here to help you out," she started and gave him a quizzical look. "Now, can you help me make a TikTok video?"

Josh laughed, and they recorded several videos that night which gathered tons of likes later.
