Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams: Actor Explained Reason behind Their Breakup Years after It Happened
Did Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams date? The stars of "The Notebook" were both known as one of Hollywood's most renowned couples. Here's what happened to their relationship.
Canadian actor Ryan Gosling became an instant social media sensation after a handsome photo of him dressed as Barbie's tanned and toned plastic boyfriend, Ken, went viral.
Before he could enchant fans with his chiseled looks for Greta Gerwig's new film "Barbie," Gosling rose to fame in the movie "The Notebook," alongside actress Rachel McAdams, whom he previously dated.

WHY DID RYAN GOSLING AND RACHEL MCADAMS BREAK UP?
The "Barbie" star and McAdams first met on "The Notebook" set in 2003. Set in the 1940s, the 41-year-old actor played Noah Calhoun, opposite McAdams's character Allie Hamilton.
While they shared on-screen chemistry in the romantic drama film, their off-screen relationship revealed the contrary. When they started working together, they were apparently not on good terms.
McAdams and Gosling's fans were not immediately aware of the actress's reported feud with Gosling. Those who kept up with the couple's updates assumed they were in love.
A few years earlier, at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, the couple re-enacted their legendary "The Notebook" kiss in the rain, which caused excitement among fans and celebrities in attendance.
But in 2007, just two years after the famed stage kiss, McAdams and the "La La Land" actor reportedly ended their relationship. The fans, unaware that the couple had dated, were left heartbroken.
While neither of them revealed the specific cause for their split, Gosling previously opened up about why he and McAdams parted ways.

In a 2011 interview with The Times, Gosling blamed their relationship's demise on her and McAdams's hectic acting careers. He added:
"Show business is the bad guy. When both people are in show business it's too much show business. It takes all of the light, so nothing else can grow."

Fans, while heartbroken, understood the former couple's breakup. They continue to support Gosling and the 43-year-old actress in their careers in Hollywood.
Following Gosling's split from McAdams, he was linked to several high-profile actresses.

WHO HAS RYAN GOSLING DATED?
In 2001, Gosling fell in love with his "Murder by Numbers" co-star Sandra Bullock, with whom he dated for nearly two years. Their relationship was unusual in Hollywood because she was 16 years older than him.
After being spotted on an alleged date at Disneyland in 2009, Gosling fueled dating speculations with "Two Broke Girls" star Kat Dennings. They never revealed the true state of their relationship, though.
In 2010, Gosling dated "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively, who later married and shares three children with actor Ryan Reynolds. The following year, Gosling was linked to actress Olivia Wilde.
Gosling met actress and model Eva Mendes the same year he was linked to Wilde. He and Mendes played lovers in the drama film "The Place Beyond the Pines."
Mendes and Gosling started dating, and although they are yet to marry, they have already welcomed two daughters: Esmeralda, 7, born in 2014, and Amada, 6, born in 2016.
The couple has been together for nearly a decade and has kept their family life private. They were last seen in public in 2012 when they promoted "The Place Beyond the Pines."
