Some of David Harbour's fans already see him as a father figure, especially for his appearances in "Stranger Things" and "Black Widow."

In real life, he is the stepfather of Lily Allen's daughters. Ethel and Marnie were born in 2011 and 2013 during Allen's relationship with Sam Cooper, her first husband. More about their relationship later.

DAVID HARBOUR'S RELATIONSHIP WITH MARNIE AND ETHEL

Harbour became the girl's stepdad when he secretly married Allen in Las Vegas in September 2020. People learned about their ceremony after the Clark County Registrar's office in Nevada tweeted their marriage certificate without permission.

Having friends and family learn about their wedding through the internet was "awkward," but marrying Allen was great. Harbour revealed that he has a special relationship with his stepdaughters. It took time and effort, but the girls helped him learn different things about himself, including how to show up for other people selflessly.

LILY ALLEN'S DAUGHTERS INSPIRED DAVID HARBOUR TO MARRY THEIR MOM

Harbour revealed that his stepdaughters were crucial in his decision to marry Allen. The couple got engaged before the pandemic hit and could not tie the knot during quarantine.

One day, as he and the girls rode their bikes, Marnie said, "David, dad. David, dad." At the time, she was about six or seven years old and got confused with the D in Harbour's name.

However, Ethel got upset with Marnie for calling Harbour "dad." She told her little sister he was not their father, but Marnie said he was "kind of our stepdad." Ethel kept saying he was not, and Harbour explained:

"[Marnie] goes, 'What is he?' and [Ethel] goes, 'he's just some guy in our lives!' And I was like, 'I need to marry this woman because the emotional fallout…"

Harbour joked that he kept being referred to as just "some guy" in Ethel and Marnie's lives even after he and Allen tied the knot.

MEET LILY ALLEN'S DAUGHTERS, MARNIE AND ETHEL

The girl's biological dad is builder and decorator Sam Cooper. He and Allen began dating in mid-2009 and tied the knot in June 2011. Unfortunately, the former couple lost their first child, George, six months into the pregnancy.

Allen pointed out that losing a child was only part of the heartbreaking incident. She also faced difficulties delivering him as the boy got stuck halfway. The ordeal was traumatic, and Allen thinks she would never really recover from it.

Caring for Ethel after she was born was not easy, either. The girl was "very ill" for the first eight months, and Allen got pregnant with Marnie only three months after she was born.

Luckily, Ethel and Marnie have a great father figure in their lives in Harbour. He once said he never wanted to have kids, but after meeting Allen's children, he understood why everyone has them. What a beautiful family!
