Hollywood actress, playwright, and screenwriter Zoe Kazan has so many exciting projects under her belt that we couldn't just pick five for this list.

On June 21, 2022, Zoe Kazan and Netflix announced a collaboration. She will write and executive produce a limited series about John Steinbeck's novel "East of Eden."

Kazan revealed that adapting Steinbeck's story had been her dream since she read it in her teens. The TV series release date is still unclear, but while we wait, let's check Kazan's top six movies and TV shows.

On the sixth spot, we have "The Plot Against America," the 2020 mini-series starring Winona Ryder, Anthony Boyle, and Morgan Spector. The story explores what would have happened if xenophobic populist Charles Lindbergh had won the U.S. presidential election of 1940 instead of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

"The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" comes next. The 2018 anthology film tells six stories of life and violence in the Old West from the eyes of a bank robber, a singing gunslinger, a traveling impresario, a wagon train, an elderly prospector, and two bounty hunters.

"The Deuce" takes fourth place on our list. The TV series ran from 2017 to 2019 and had a cast full of stars, including James Franco, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The story is set in New York during the 1970s and 1980s and tells the story of the legalization and rise of the adult film industry.

Number three is "Ruby Sparks," the 2012 movie where Kazan worked next to her longtime partner Paul Dano (more on their love story later). It follows the life of a struggling novelist who writes about a woman he thinks will love him, but she somehow comes to life. More on "Ruby Sparks" later.

The second spot is for the 2014 mini-series "Olive Kitteridge." Starring Frances McDormand and Richard Jenkins, the Emmy-winning show follows a middle-school math teacher and her 25-year marriage to her husband.

Speaking of fantastic love stories, Kazan has one with Paul Dano.

"The Big Sick" tops our list of Zoe Kazan's top 6 movies and TV shows. Starring Kazan, Kumail Nanjiani, Holly Hunter, and Ray Romano, the romantic comedy film is loosely based on Nanjiani's real-life relationship with his wife, Emily V. Gordon.

Shortly after Nanjiani and Gordon (the film's writers) began dating, she was put into a medically induced coma and diagnosed with a rare systemic auto-inflammatory disorder called Still's disease.

During those dreadful days, Nanjiani realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Gordon (played by Kazan in "The Big Sick"). They tied the knot a few months after Gordon woke up in 2007.

Speaking of fantastic love stories, Kazan has one with Paul Dano, her "Ruby Sparks" co-star. Kazan and Dano met while rehearsing for the 2007 play "Things We Want." They keep most details of their romance under wraps and secretly became parents in 2018.

Kazan said she wrote the "Ruby Sparks" script out of a feeling of creative compulsion rather than a desire to showcase her abilities. After reading the main character's description, Dano believed it was him and asked if the script was for them. Kazan said yes. However, she had not thought about it until he brought it up.
