Ethan Hawke Called 'Moon Knight Guy' & Gets Recognized as 'Stranger Things' Star Maya Hawke's Dad

Not too long ago, actor Ethan Hawke trended on social media platforms as the younger generation called him the "Moon Knight Guy" after discovering he was the father of the "Stranger Things" actress Maya Hawke.

When Ethan Hawke attended the Hun School of Princeton, he began taking acting classes even though he had an early ambition to be a writer. In 1985, after appearing in some student productions, he auditioned for a role in "Explorers" and got the part.

Due to the poor commercial success, he stayed away from movies until he got his breakthrough role in 1989 when he starred in "Dead Poets Society." At the time, he studied theatre at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University but did not complete his degree.

The award-winning actor and author appeared in numerous films and worked in the theatre. In 1997, while he was on the set of "Gattaca," Ethan met his first wife, Uma Thurman. He proposed to her twice before she said yes, and they married on May 1, 1998.

The couple welcomed their daughter Maya Ray Hawke on July 8, 1998, and their son Levon Green Hawke, also known as Levon Thurman-Hawke, on January 15, 2002. However, they divorced on July 20, 2004.

Recently, a fan on Twitter connected the relationship between Maya and Ethan, and seeing as she forgot his name, she referred to him as the guy from "Moon Knight." The fan's tweet led to Ethan being called the "Moon Knight Guy" on social media.

ETHAN HAWKE'S REACTION TO BEING CALLED "MOON KNIGHT GUY"

Shortly after Ethan went viral as the "Moon Knight Guy," he sat down in an interview with DJ, writer, producer, and director Kevin Polowy to address the uproar. He said:

"Well, that's who I am to them, and that's the fun of acting. For years you're the prep-school kid from 'Dead Poets Society,' then you're the cop from 'Training Day.' Then you're the Gen-X'er from 'Reality Bites.' Now I'm the Moon Knight guy."

Ethan has never hidden the fact that Maya is his daughter. In 2019, he took to his Instagram to reveal that she was the real thing to watch on "Stranger Things." He said:

"Some of you may have missed her in last year's BBC production of 'Little Women.' Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard. [...] I even missed a few, and I'm her father [...] but Ladies & Gentleman, get to know MAYA HAWKE. She's the real thing."

Fans on Twitter could not believe it. One fan said: "The Moon Knight glass shoe guy is Maya Hawke's dad ???????? and Uma Thurman is her mom ???????? Huh." Another fan referred to him as Arthur Harrow, his character on "Moon Knight," while another fan revealed that the information blew his mind.

HOW DID ETHAN HAWKE REACT TO MAYA BECOMING AN ARTIST?

Ethan is a proud dad who has watched his daughter become a fantastic actor and successful musician. He is so proud of watching Maya become an adult and express herself that in 2020 he said:

"She had an album come out this year, and it's called "Blush," and it's so good. And I had this thought the other day, [...] if my whole life was on fire, [...] and I could save one thing [...] the thing that popped to my mind that I would save first would be Maya's record."

He further stated that the album was incredible and the best. According to Ethan, Maya has a way with words in her music, and he has sought to capture the grace that music produces as an actor. However, he is just a music fan watching his daughter excel at his favorite art form.
