Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne seemed like an unlikely couple owing to their differences, but their love for each other was more compelling. Despite their different backgrounds, they remained supportive of each other, creating a fairy-tale that has lasted for four decades. Here's a timeline of their romance.

The Osbournes are a blend of talented individuals. Sharon, a TV personality and talent show judge, also managed her husband, Ozzy, an iconic rock legend. But apart from their successful careers, these two have a wonderful relationship with a peculiar history.

It all began in 1970 when they first met. Sharon was an 18-year-old receptionist working for her dad, Don Arden, a shrewd man in the music business. Don was interested in the best talent and had just signed a rock band called Black Sabbath.

Don got a visit from the Black Sabbath vocalist at his office. That was when Sharon set eyes on Ozzy for the first time. It was not love at first sight, as his appearance was somewhat scary to the young receptionist. While recalling their first meeting, Sharon said:

"Ozzy walked into my father's office without shoes, with a water faucet dangling from his neck, and sat on the floor. I was terrified."

Despite her initial observation, nine years later, Sharon and Ozzy fell in love. At the time, the musician was married to Thelma Riley. They had two biological kids - Jessica and Louis - and Ozzy adopted Elliot, Thelma's son from a previous relationship.

Ozzy and Thelma eventually got divorced and he got together with Sharon. Although the couple was in love, Sharon did not accept Ozzy's proposal the first two times.

It took five proposals, each with a special ring, before she agreed to be his bride—their fights fueled the delay. Sharon admitted that "every time Ozzy would ask me to marry him, we'd have an argument and I'd throw the damn ring out the window."

During one of their heated arguments at a hotel, Sharon threw a ring worth $10,000 out of the window, which led to the couple combing the hotel's garden for two days. Sharon finally agreed to spend the rest of her life with her eccentric lover.

FAMILY LIFE WITH THE ROCK STAR

In 1982, Ozzy walked down the aisle a second time with his young bride. They soon expanded their family with three kids. Their firstborn was Aimee, followed by another daughter, Kelly, and a son, Jack.

As their relationship progressed, they experienced several problems stemming from their different backgrounds and values. Their differences were evident in their attitudes, the way they dressed, and how they addressed issues. In a 1989 interview, the rock star revealed:

"We hardly agree on anything."

Despite all of this, they tried to make compromises, which helped to forge their long-lasting bond. Sharon, who hated his love for tattoos, drugs, and alcohol, consistently tried to get her husband to change. This led to a series of arguments, but in the end, he cut down on some eccentricities.

Ozzy found it challenging to defeat his demons, and sadly it almost cost him his wife. In 1989, while under the influence of drugs, the award-winning performer physically abused his wife and was arrested for attempted murder. Although Sharon did not walk out on her marriage, her husband went to rehab for three months.

DID THE COUPLE EVER SPLIT?

Following the arrest, the couple eventually settled into family life, and everything seemed calm. But in 2013, there were rumors of their possible divorce. Ozzy took to social media to address the gossip. He shared a tearjerking post where he apologized to his loved ones for relapsing and revealed he was 44 days sober.

The rock star also confirmed that he was still with his wife, adding that his focus was on becoming a better person. However, three years after he pledged to be the man his family needed, sources revealed that Ozzy and Sharon had separated. An insider explained that it had nothing to do with his sobriety.

Instead, the close source alleged that he had an affair with Michelle Pugh, a colorist at the luxurious Meche Salon in Beverly Hills. When the news broke, Sharon told her TV audience it was true, adding that she had sent her husband away from their home.

The then 63-year-old admitted that she was ready for a new beginning and was going to make lemonade with her lemons. While sharing her personal story on "The Talk," which she co-hosted, Sharon said:

"I honestly cannot thank people enough for their backing me. For saying they love me. I honestly am empowered and I have found this inner strength and I'm like, right. OK. What's next?"

What came next for the couple was an unexpected reunion. Ozzy showed remorse and tried to win his wife back. The couple enrolled in therapy, and two months later, they fell in love again.

Without wasting time, the heavy metal rocker proudly shared in an interview that they were back together as a couple. He told Jesse Palmer of GMA that it was just "a little bump on the road," adding that "you get back on the horse, you know."

Apart from the role therapy played in their reconciliation, Sharon boldly admitted that she did not end the marriage because of the guilt she felt and her own actions.

The TV personality explained that her husband's fame made him vulnerable to such relationships, as many fans would throw themselves at him, which might have boosted his ego.

She believed her lack of regular compliments and being too busy to show emotional support led to the scandal. Sharon also mentioned why she felt motivated to forgive. In her words:

"I forgive. It's going take a long time to trust, but we've been together 36 years, 34 of marriage … I just can't think of my life without him."

On the other hand, Ozzy remains thankful to his wife for her willingness to make their marriage work. In a 2020 interview, he condemned his behavior, vowing it was all in the past. Indeed, since they renewed vows in 2017, there have been no more issues regarding cheating in their marriage.

LIFE AFTER THEIR SEPARATION

After thirty-five years of marriage, the couple renewed their vows in the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. The intimate ceremony emphasized a new beginning for them. Sharon stated that she did not want it to be a loud gathering.

An excited Ozzy gushed about the moment, confessing that it was refreshing to share such love with his leading woman, with whom he felt excited to share the future. Although Sharon was ready for a fresh start, she opened up about her past experiences and what led to their separation.

In 2017, the TV personality shocked the world when she revealed that her husband's affair with the hairstylist was not his first. She claimed he had been with more than four women in the past six years, all of which she endured.

Sharon discovered his latest affair by mistake. Her husband had sent an email to her that was meant to go to Pugh. That was when she realized that "he was doing it to fill the void in some way. And I just felt like the life I'd been leading wasn't my life at all."

That was not the only truth uncovered about their marriage. Last year, Sharon talked about their early days as a couple. She confessed that it took on a volatile nature, as they often engaged in physical fights, causing pain to each other.

Thankfully, all that is in the past. More than once, Ozzy has confidently shared that he is on his best behavior and thankful for his family. According to the entertainer:

"I got my reality check and I'm lucky she didn't leave me. I'm not proud of that. I was pissed off with myself. But I broke her heart."

Despite the emotional hurts, physical fights, and years of drug abuse, these two remain inseparable. A few days ago, they marked their 40th wedding anniversary. Sharon shared a throwback photo of her and Ozzy holding hands and added the sweetest caption that read:

"2022 is a special year for me. It marks 40 years of marriage to my darling Ozzy…Always at each other's side."

Ozzy also shared a lovely message with his long-time partner. The rock star posted their wedding photo and wrote a short note that referenced his wife.

The couple's wedding anniversary posts garnered many likes and comments from close friends, family, and fans who congratulated them, showing how much they still believe in their unique love story.
