'When Calls the Heart's' Daniel Lissing Married Love of His Life Who Did Not Know He Was a Famous Actor

Australian film star Daniel Lissing's love story with his fantastic wife shows that true love is not a telenovela myth. The "When Calls the Heart" actor fell for a woman who was oblivious to his fame.

Daniel Lissing's acting career began in the early 2000s. The Australian-born celebrity has appeared in a series of films, but fans know him best as Jack Thornton from the 2014 "When Calls the Heart."

The actor was a hopeless romantic in the Hallmark production, falling in love with the beloved Elizabeth Thatcher. However, their union did not last.

In real life, Lissing created a more pleasant fairytale with the woman of his dreams. While his offscreen love life does not share the same tragedy as his on-screen affair, both stories are mesmerizing.

Despite being a fan's favorite, Lissing left the series a few years ago, and that was when Nadia called his heart. When asked if there were regrets about exiting the Hallmark production, he said no.

The "When Calls the Heart" star revealed that leaving the show changed his reality. He gushed about meeting Nadia at the time, adding that he would not wish to have it any other way. He said: "It's funny the way the world works. If I had stayed on the show…I wouldn't have met Nadia." Lissing continued:

"I wouldn't be getting married, and I wouldn't be at this place in my life where I feel really sort of in line with what I am meant to be doing, personally and professionally."

Without mincing words, the TV star mentioned that his lover is his life and that their love story is the most important aspect of his existence.

Truly, Lissing means as much to his wife as she does to him. During a heart-to-heart conversation with ET's Deidre Behar, Nadia spoke about their relationship, revealing how they met and what she thought of him.

Nadia mentioned that she had just bagged her master's degree in business and was traveling when she bumped into Lissing in Reykjavik, Iceland.

She described the actor as "a very happy, slightly intoxicated Australian" who had a conversation with her in a bar. Nadia admired his looks but kept thinking that he was acting crazy. Soon, they developed a connection, which was hard to deny. In her words:

"There was an instant connection, deeper than anything physical, mental or even explainable. The way he makes me feel is as if we've always known each other. He just get me at my core and I get him like no one else."

Despite falling head over heels for the handsome actor, Nadia did not know he was a celebrity. She realized after their third or fourth meeting when she saw fans' reactions.

Although it seemed foreign initially, she grew to love and respect her beau for his creativity and talent. Now, Nadia is his number one fan!

LISSING'S HEART CALLS FOR A PROPOSAL

In 2019, Lissing decided to take their love further by proposing to Nadia. Before the year wrapped up, the actor treated fans to an adorable snapshot of him and his new fianceé, with their lips fused.

He had just asked Nadia to marry him; she responded with a YES and shared photos from the intimate proposal, showing her Instagram audience the simple yet elegant square-shaped rock. Her caption read:

"Couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else."

Reeling in excitement, Lissing later shared the details of the moment with an interviewer. He claimed it was a home-themed proposal with lots of noises in the background. He said:

"I kept it very simple. I asked her at our home. On her birthday. I just spoke from my heart. Although, I'm not sure she heard a word. There was a lot of screaming and crying with happiness. And she was doing the same."

He also felt proud that he had made the perfect choice with the engagement ring. According to the actor, it was a platinum-colored band surrounded by tiny diamonds. The band was purchased from Tiffany & Co., and its unique design symbolized their love.

Nadia was confident they were in love, yet the proposal was shocking. She admitted to feeling overjoyed, adding that there was a lot of excitement in the air on that day (she cried, and they danced around the house).

THE LISSING-NADIA PERFECT WEDDING PARTY

Following the beautiful proposal, the couple put their heads together to plan their first-ever wedding ceremony. Nadia explained that it would be a summer celebration that would entertain the waterfront as its venue. She said:

"We're both water babies, so [it will happen in] summer! White sand, palm trees, and the ocean, definitely!"

The couple never revealed that their future ceremony would be hosted in Bali and that they had the best minds working on the project. Nadia added that Lissing's sister, Tamara, would structure the plans to give them a memorable day.

While Nadia confessed that she trusts Tamara to handle the order of the day, some things would not be compromised, which include having loved ones around—family and friends, celebrating in the right location, and having fun.

Months after sharing their plans, Lissing confirmed that they were married. The couple tied the knot in front of two witnesses; it was a rather intimate affair. They postponed the grand party later because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Australian actor explained:

"We're saving all our personal touches and extravagant decorations for our big family wedding next year. Wedding planner and all. It'll be an awesome wedding, but very different to the first one just for us."

Whether or not the big wedding comes, the couple is already married, and living harmoniously is what matters to them. Since their private wedding in 2020, they have been enjoying their time as husband and wife, going on dates while serenading each other with sweet words on social media.
