When they inevitably crossed paths, Linney said she instantly developed feelings for him. The actress felt it was something close to love at first sight. By 2007, they were engaged, and in 2009, Linney and Schauer hosted their wedding ceremony outdoors.

When she met her current husband, Linney spoke about how they appeared to get along quite well. She recalled the moment, saying:

2014: LAURA LINNEY AND MARC SCHAUER WELCOME A CHILD

Linney was 49 years old in 2014 when she gave birth to Bennett Armistead Schauer. However, before she gave birth, she remained exceedingly private about the baby.

Beyond her natural inclination to remain low-profile, she also wanted to make sure the child was born first, fearing she may lose it. The actress attended award shows and events in bump-concealing outfits, with no one suspecting she was pregnant.

On July 5, 2022, a 58-year-old Linney was dressed in a graceful navy-blue-midi dress while attending the unveiling ceremony of her Hollywood Walk of fame star. This honor was presented to her by a previous co-star Holland Taylor and the "Ozark" showrunner Chris Mundy.

Ecstatic, Linney expressed that it was an incredibly overwhelming moment for her. She stated that she would have never believed she would receive this honor and would have thought it crazy had anyone mentioned the possibility to her.
