During his marriage to Chapital, Mackie welcomed four wonderful children. However, although having a career in the limelight, the actor and Chapital keep their children away from prying eyes.

Despite never mentioning their names during interviews, Mackie has spoken about life as a father several times. "I recently had my third kid," he previously said. "And it just messed up everything that was my reality. It just changes your entire perspective on the world."

Admittedly, the cost of having children was no joke, but the proud dad couldn't be happier with his life. He said during an interview with Fatherly:

"The most rewarding part [of fatherhood] is seeing them grow up to be good human beings, really nice kids. I try to impress on my kids that the world is their playground and that they should respect people as human beings until they're shown otherwise."

His role in the Marvel films also helped Mackie bond with his children more. When his kids discovered that he played Captain America, it gave them a chance to spend time together while watching movies.

How Does Anthony Mackie Raise His Sons?

Mackie is raising his sons to be well-rounded individuals, actively participating in their community. Although firm, he always treats his sons with respect and informs them of their rights and the consequences of their actions.

He also talks to his children about voting and the importance of exercising this right. Coming from a family with strong Black women, Mackie also tries to impart his wisdom to his sons when it comes to respecting girls.

Young as they are, Mackie's boys already know the right things to do to make society a better place. Only time will tell if they will one day reveal their identities to share their own accounts of growing up with an actor.

Who Is the Mother of Anthony Mackie's Kids?

Mackie shares all his kids with his childhood sweetheart, Chapital, whom he met in second grade. He recalled:

“I was coming from a very bad school and going to a very good school, and when I walked into second grade, it was Dr. Seuss day [...]. So, you know, I walk in and I look and I see this girl with these little ratty pigtails and skinny legs and I was like, ‘Wow!'”

Mackie and Chapital had an on-and-off relationship since they were children until they reconnected in 2009. Five years later, the couple tied the knot at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in the Dominican Republic.

Unfortunately, despite their strong foundation, their marriage only lasted four years. In 2018, the duo quietly divorced but remained on good terms. Anthony Mackie and Sheletta Chapital reportedly share joint custody of their kids.
