Victoria didn't have access to her trust, so he had no idea how they managed to buy such a good home. But still, he knew she had probably contributed more, and this loser had thrown her and his grandkids out to the cold. And now, they had disappeared.

Nathan is going to pay, Christian thought, slamming his car door and banging on the front door. "Come out! Nathan! Come out immediately! Where's my daughter? Where are my grandkids? Come face me, you coward!" he yelled as his fist pounded and echoed in the peaceful Connecticut neighborhood.

The door opened suddenly, but Nathan was not there. It was Victoria. "Oh, thank God," Christian said and hugged her without thinking. His daughter, whom he had not seen in years, embraced him and shockingly laughed.

Christian pulled back and looked at her face, frowning. "What's funny?"

"I'm just glad my dad still cares about me, and… that you fell into my trap," she answered, shrugging one shoulder and grinning sneakily.

"I don't understand."

"I saw your P.I. lurking around, and I paid him to trick you," Victoria revealed, sneaking her tongue out at her father.

"Jesus Christ, Victoria! Do you know how scared I was?" Christian breathed, his hands pulling his hair back. But then, he also burst out laughing at the idea. "I'm so glad you're alright."

"Are you ready to accept my life? My husband?" Victoria suddenly asked, getting more serious. Christian sighed and looked behind her toward her house, which proved she was alright despite his lack of financial help. That meant that Nathan couldn't be so bad.

"I'm ready," he replied, and Victoria invited him inside. Nathan came down, and they talked for a long time. Christian asked for forgiveness from both, and his daughter's husband spoke about their life together.
