Famous show host Steve Harvey was not in his son Broderick Harvey Jr's life "full-time" after his divorce from Broderick's mother. However, the father and son mended their relationship and went into business after Steve wanted to "bring the family together."

Broderick was born on April 29, 1991, in the States; he was named after his father and was raised by his mother in Cleveland after his parents separated. Broderick was 16 when he moved to Atlanta to live with his father full-time; and despite his mother's disapproval of the move, Broderick said:
"At 16, I knew that's what I needed as a man."
Despite pursuing art in university, Broderick participated in various sports in school; after elementary school, he enrolled at North Springs Charter High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia, where he played basketball and soccer. He also showcased a love for art in high school, where he specialized in arts and sciences.
He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, from 2010 to 2014 and graduated with an art degree. After school, Broderick gained much experience in different fields; he was a ticket coordinator in 2008 for seven years before he became a director of creative development in 2015, a development associate in 2017, and a producer in 2019.
He worked with his father on projects such as product development and brand integration for Steve Harvey World Group in 2015 and "Family Feud South Africa" as a producer in 2019. He also branched out into his own endeavors, such as his photography company, B. Harv Photography, which he founded in 2009, and his clothing line Need Money Not Friends.

Broderick Harvey Jr.'s Mother Is Steve Harvey's First Wife
Broderick's mother, Marcia Harvey, was Steve's first wife; they tied the knot in 1981 and divorced in 1994. Steve was still an up-and-coming comedian and worked as a salesman; he spent long spells away from home, which resulted in the end of his marriage.
Unlike her ex-husband, Marcia has kept out of the public eye; little is known about her life post her divorce, but she did become a published author.
Broderick Harvey Jr.'s Relationship with His Father
On his TV show, "Steve," the famous host revealed that he was 25 when he decided not to live with Broderick. Broderick spent a large portion of his life without his father, and when Steve and his wife located to Atlanta, Broderick was hesitant to move in with his father as he did not want to hurt his mom, but he said:
"I need that connection with him (Steve)."
Broderick revealed that his mother "felt some type of way" about him moving, but he still felt he needed to reconnect with his father. Broderick and Steve Harvey were able to work on their relationship in the years to come.
