David Hyde Pierce is widely known for bringing life to the character Dr. Niles Crane on the hit television series "Frasier."

Pierce took on the role throughout the show's eleven-year run and was recognized with an Emmy Award nomination each year, of which he won four.

Although the show has ended, Pierce is still continuing his career and is recognized by television viewers. He now lives happily in Los Angeles with his husband, Brian Hargrove.

Who Is Brian Hargrove, David Hyde Pierce's Husband?

Hargrove, born on April 2, 1956, in North Carolina, pursued a career in the entertainment industry. He is not focused on being on-screen and works as a writer and producer behind the scenes.

Some of Hargrove's most recognized productions came in the '90s and early 2000s, including "The Secret World of Alex Mack," "Caroline in the City," and "Titus."

Although he prefers behind-the-scenes work, Hargrove previously tried his luck with acting. According to his husband, they were actors with the same agent when they met at auditions.

How Long Have David Hyde Pierce and Brian Hargrove Been Together?

It was 1982 when they first crossed paths, but at that time, neither of them knew they were gay. They became best friends for the longest time until they eventually pieced things together.

According to Pierce, he genuinely liked spending time with Hargrove without thinking they could be more than friends. He often feels that they built a strong foundation by being good friends first before becoming lovers. Pierce said:

"I've always felt that the fact that the relationship was built on friendship first is part of the reason why we've been together for 39 years."

The actor got his idea of what a relationship should be from his parents, whose marriage lasted nearly 50 years. Their dedication to each other inspired Pierce to search for the same love, which he, fortunately, found with Hargrove.

"The Perfect Host" star never had a sit-down coming out conversation with his parents. Instead, he brought Hargrove home and introduced him as the man he loved. Pierce's parents loved Hargrove and immediately made him feel like a family member.

He also shared what living one's true identity should be. "I believed that living your life without hiding was the political statement," Pierce said. "We seem more accepting of that now than we did, but we're at a different point in the struggle than we were then. I wasn't a hero of that struggle."

Pierce and Hargrove were photographed together as soon as "Frasier" became a hit. However, the actor did not explicitly talk about his relationship until some three years after the show ended. The couple finally tied the knot in 2008, and although they don't have children, they are parents to adorable dogs.

What Is David Hyde Pierce up to Now?

Pierce is still active in the entertainment scene today. Some of his latest appearances are in "Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later," "Julie's Greenroom," "When We Rise," "Crossovers Live!" and "The Georgetown Project."

He also landed a role in HBO Max's new series, "Julia," where he plays the titular character's husband, Paul Child. The show portrays snippets from the television show host and author Julia Child's life, including her love story.

There has also been news of "Frasier" returning to the small screen with a reboot on Paramount +. Although it hasn't been confirmed, the original cast members, including Pierce and Kelsey Grammer, might be making guest appearances.

Grammer took on the role of the titular character. Apart from starring in "Frasier," he is also known for being vocal about his comic colleague Roseanne Barr's 2018 controversial racist tweet.
