The story of Wil Wheaton and his wife, Anne Wheaton, is fascinating, especially considering that Anne already had two kids by the time they met. Credit must be given to their mutual friend whose persistence in setting them up has resulted in more than 20 years of a happy marriage.

Her husband, Wil, is a long-time personal blogger. His geekiness and early embrace of Twitter, while it was still in its infancy, ended with him making appearances in the hit television series, "The Big Bang Theory." But his most famous role is his portrayal of Wesley Crusher in "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

Anne is an author, actress, and personal blogger herself. Besides writing, she spends much time advocating for pet rescue and helping various people. Together with her husband, they founded The Foundation to Increase Awesome, an organization that seeks to help raise funds for organizations that rely on charitable contributions.

Anne Wheaton was born in the United States on August 8, 1969. Before meeting Wil, she had been married before and had two children. She became a single parent when she was still young and had to juggle being a parent, working as a waitress, and attending school. That task became more difficult after her mom died.

Consequently, she could no longer juggle the multiple responsibilities, and her time in cosmetology school ended. However, she was able to return to school several months after she moved in with her then-boyfriend, Wil. After completing the program, she became a cosmetologist and a hairdresser.

After 17 years of hairdressing, she decided to switch careers and focus full-time on her advocacy for animals and humanitarian work. Her passion for animals inspired her to write a children's book, "Piggy and Pug," which tells the story of two animals looking for companionship.

When Anne Met Wil

Anne and Wil met in 1995 at a New Year's Eve party through a mutual friend named Stephanie. Although nothing significant happened that night, the two were reacquainted a few days later at a movie date organized by their friend and her boyfriend. They began dating after that and started getting to know each other.

Anne acknowledged that she didn't know Wil was a famous actor then but later found out after they went to a "Star Trek" Convention in London. A few weeks into seeing each other, Anne introduced Wil to her boys, and they moved in with him nine months later. On November 7, 1999, they said their "I dos."

But her pain kept getting worse and she eventually learned that she was suffering from an ovarian torsion.

Wil Wheaton Adopted His Wife's Children

Just before their wedding, Wil and Anne met a therapist who asked them to list their priorities in life. While Wil wrote career at the top of his list, it was at the bottom for Anne. The therapist then advised that, for their marriage to work, their family had to come first.

In the early years of their marriage, their family was constantly attacked by Anne's ex and the biological father of her children, Ryan and Nolan. He wanted the kids to reject Wil, but the Wheaton family remained firm. When the kids reached adulthood, they both asked Wil to adopt them as he had been a great father to them. Anne wrote:

"From the moment we moved in together, Wil was their father in every way a father should be to a child. He loved them unconditionally, he supported them, played with them, listened to their triumphs and struggles."

Anne Wheaton's Health Ordeal

In June 2017, Anne felt a deep pain on the right side of her body near her kidneys. Her attending doctor diagnosed the pain as a kidney stone when she went to the hospital. She was given medication and discharged. But her pain kept worsening, and she eventually learned she was suffering from ovarian torsion.

The seizure had been caused by a combination of things, including Wil's prescription medication, rapid onset migraine, and a pinched nerve.

The ovarian torsion had been caused by a cyst that caused a twist that cut off blood flow to the ovary, leading to the ovary dying. After more days of worsening pain, the organ was removed, ending the excruciating ordeal for her and her husband, who was highly concerned about his wife's severe pain.

Wil Wheaton's Wife Went Through a Nightmare

Wil also had his health ordeal, a situation that Anne described as a "nightmare" that she would never forget. The event started with Wil feeling massive pain which seemed to subside for a moment but later transformed into a full-body seizure. The helpless wife held her husband in her arms while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

Anne said, "My only thought was if you were going to die, it wasn't going to be alone on our bed; it was going to be in my arms." The paramedics eventually arrived and took Wil to the E.R. Still, the nightmare was not over yet as this had happened during the height of the Covid pandemic, and hospital procedures were very rigid.

Luckily, the doctors developed an accurate diagnosis, bringing welcome relief as the pain was not caused by anything dire. The seizure had been caused by a combination of things, including Wil Wheaton's prescription medication, rapid onset migraine, and a pinched nerve.

The Wheatons have had a life worth writing about, and they do so in their blogs. From an unexpected meet-up to an incredible two decades of marriage, Anne and Wil have gone through pain and happiness together.
