Thomas Rhett's eldest daughter, Willa Gray Akins, is growing up with an interest in music. The young girl previously wrote a song and sang it for her father's fans on Instagram.

Thomas Rhett gained success in the music industry with several hit songs and an Academy of Country Music award under his belt.

Still, his most incredible pride is being a loving husband and dotting father of four, who he shares with his wife, Lauren Akins.

Rhett and Akins were high school sweethearts who tied the knot in 2012. It wasn't until five years later that they decided to have children; now, they have four.

Lauren Akins Felt Instant Connection with Willa Gray When She First Met Her

Akins was raised by a mother who was adopted, and later, she worked with the 147 Million Orphans organization, which opened him to the idea of adopting a child.

"I always wanted to adopt," she said, but it wasn't until 2016 that she met Willa, then nicknamed Blessing, an 18-month-old baby in Uganda. Akins and Rhett had been trying to start a family then, with the 147 Million Orphans volunteer running out of luck.

When the country star saw Akin's photo holding Willa, he knew that the two had already formed a bond. He said his wife glowed differently and felt like Willa was, in some way, already part of the family. Rhett ended up suggesting that Willa officially becomes their first child.

Adopting Willa was no easy feat, as the couple had to secure several documents and undergo different processes that involved several trips to Uganda. During the adoption, Akins discovered she was pregnant with another girl.

Having to manage the pregnancy and adoption process, Akins sought help from her parents, who finally brought Willa home to their Nashville residence.

Rhett previously opened up about adopting Willa, calling it the most beautiful yet challenging experience they went through as husband and wife. However, having Willa become their first child changed both Rhett's and Akin's lives. He added:

"Willa Gray is literally the joy of my world. I cannot imagine living my life without Willa Gray today."

Thomas Rhett Waits for the Right Time to Tell Willa Gray about Her Adoption

Eventually, the time will come when Will has to learn about her adoption, and the "Slow Down Summer" singer plans to do that when she turns ten. Although she does not have the whole story, Willa already has some understanding.

According to the dad, Willa asks Akins when she can see her friends in Uganda. Willa and her siblings discuss the topic innocently, making it more difficult for their parents to address adoption.

Regardless of how Willa entered their lives, Rhett doesn't see her as anything less than a daughter he loves. The singer added that he doesn't feel like Willa ever came from a different side of the world. Three months after Willa joined Rhett's family, Akins gave birth to their first biological child, Ada James.

Willa Gray Is Already Following in Her Father's Footsteps in Music

Young as she is, Willa is already following in her father's footsteps as a musician. In 2021, then-five-year-old Wila went on Instagram and sang a song she wrote herself.

The clip, posted on Rhett's Instagram, began with his introduction. Willa then began singing a jazzy tune about having friends and wanting to play. Willa's love for music likely comes from her father and joining the music industry one day may happen.

According to the proud dad, Willa sometimes watches him make music in his studio. Willa can also freestyle to tunes her father plays on the guitar.

Besides music, Thomas Rhett encourages his daughter to be proud of herself and her culture. They want her to grow up kind to those she meets.
