Keanu Reeves Is Allegedly Ready to Propose to Girlfriend Who 'Saved' Him after Grief of Losing Baby & Ex

Keanu Reeves faced many tragedies that still have an impact on his life. He lost his child and girlfriend in two years and the dream of having a family slowly started to look far-fetched. But the actor might be ready to leave the lonely life and settle down with his girlfriend, Alexandra Grant.

Keanu Reeves is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and has been part of many iconic movies. Reeves was the star of famous films like, "The Matrix," "Speed," the John Wick franchise, and more. His films have reportedly made up $ 3 billion at the box office.

While his career is undeniably successful, the actor's life was not too kind. Starting from his childhood, Mirror reported that Reeves last spoke to his father when he was 11 years old. His father walked out on him and his family and was later arrested for being in possession of heroin in 1994.

Though Reeves' father was released in 1996, they never spoke. But that was not the end of the actor's pain. As reported by The Sun, Reeves spent ten years caring for his sister, Kim, who was diagnosed with leukemia.

He reportedly became her sole carer while juggling an exponentially growing acting career. Fortunately, Reeve's sister survived, and the actor started a cancer charity.

After his sister's recovery, life started to light up for Reeves. He even found love. According to The Sun, The "Matrix" star met his former girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, at a promotional party for his alt-rock band Dogstar, and it was love at first sight.

Their relationship got stronger, and Syme fell pregnant with their first daughter Ava, but sadly Reeves and Syme's hope to become parents was crushed when they found out little Ava had died in her mother's womb.

Ava was delivered on Christmas eve, and Syme reportedly suffered post-natal depression. The loss was also difficult for the "Speed" actor because the grief drifted the couple apart.

The couple remained on good terms and were reportedly working towards reconciliation, but that was also taken off the table when Syme died in a tragic car accident.

Syme was reportedly attending a Marilyn Manson party. Though she was given a lift, she allegedly decided to drive her jeep home. Her car crashed into a row of parked cars, and she died on the spot. After suffering two significant losses, Express UK revealed that Reeves found it very difficult to cope.

Reeves's grief is said to have been embodied by his character in "John Wick", who also lost his wife and children. The actor said he was able to relate to the character's pain. "Grief and loss don't ever go away," he added.

Keanu Reeves Is Ready to Get Married and Have a Family

Following the tragic event of his life, Reeves developed an interesting lifestyle. The actor never settled anywhere; he either rented out apartments or hotels.

Reeve reportedly lived out of his suitcase for most of his adult life. In one instance, the actor said he had mastered his hotel life so much that he joked and said "I'm down to one bag now, and smaller rooms in hotels."

However, in an interview with People in 2006, Reeves confessed that turning 40 changed his perspective on life. He realized he did not want to be alone and on the go anymore. "I bought my first house. I wanted a home." the actor said.

The "John Wick" star also revealed that he wanted to have kids and get married but said that he was still on the search for the woman he would start a family with.

A few years later, Reeves seems to have found that special person in his life, Alexandra Grant. The couple first met at a party in 2009, but their relationship was platonic for a while, reported Hollywood life.

Grant and Reeves collaborated on a book titled "The Ode to Happiness” in 2011, which features some of the actor's poetry and Grant's artwork. They worked together again in 2015 for Reeves's book "Shadows," and Grant created illustrations for the actor's poetry.

It is unclear when the artists started dating, but a friend of Grant, Jennifer Tilly, told Us Weekly that the artist confessed that Reeves had been her boyfriend for a couple of years.

Grant and Reeves have kept their relationship private, but the couple made their first public appearance in 2019 at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles.

When Reeves was 52, he had an interview with Esquire, and the question of kids came up again. But this time, the actor believed the ship had sailed for him to have children. "I am 52. I am not going to have kids,” he said.

However, the interviewer encouraged that having children at any age was possible. Reeves said, "I know, I know, I am going to start using chemistry."

Following Reeves and Grant's public appearance, the artist said she got called by almost everyone she knew about her relationship with the movie star.

It was a peculiar experience for Grant. However, when asked if she foresaw marriage with Reeves, she eloquently avoided the question and said she believed in every stage of love. But she was confident that she did not want to be alone and loved the experience of being in a relationship.

Reeves experienced significant losses in his life, and an insider told Life and Style Magazine that the trauma changed everything for the actor.

The insider emphasized that Reeves was in a very dark place when he met Grant, but her positive outlook on life and patience allowed Reeves to open up about his pain.

The Life and Style magazine source even went as far as claiming that Grant did not only steal Reeves’ heart but also saved his life.

Now the couple is reportedly inseparable and enjoys spending time together doing different activities such as “romantic candlelit dinners and secret vacations.” The insider also revealed that Grant was taking motorcycle riding lessons because that is one of Reeves's favorite hobbies.

As much as things are going great between the couple, the insider said Reeves was still working through his past trauma. The actor has no intention of letting another loved one slip away so he is reportedly working on resolving his commitment issues.
