James Kimberley Corden was born in Hillingdon, London, and skyrocketed to fame when he began hosting the acclaimed TV show "The Late, Late Show." Despite appearing on the television of thousands of people daily, James and his wife, Julia Carey, keep their lives off-camera very private.

James and his producer wife became proud parents for the first time in 2011 when they welcomed their first son, Max. After Charlotte was born, James said on his show that he and his wife were done having children and were a happy family of five.

Charlotte's Birth Was Unexpected for Her Parents

What was meant to be a routine day for the show host turned into one of the most important days of his life. During a segment on "The Late, Late Show with James Corden," James shared that Charlotte's arrival was unexpected. Julia was eight and a half months pregnant, and the expecting couple visited a doctor after Julia had complained about abdominal pain.

The excited father joked that he was in an awkward predicament when explaining to his wife and doctor that he had a show to host! Fortunately, he had good friend Harry Styles to fill in for him, and James was present for Charlotte's birth. James said:

"I just feel so lovely. It's such a wonderful thing to be a parent. You realize how indifferent you were before you had children."

James and Julia tied the knot on September 15, 2012, a little over a year after their eldest child was born. Their second child, Carey, was born in October 2014.

Because Charlotte was born weeks early, she left no room for her parents to pick a name. After she was born, James shared that he and Julia went back and forth over baby girl names.

They were both emotional, and when a doctor asked what they wanted to name their daughter, James said, "We're gonna call her Beyoncé." His audience erupted in laughter after James told them the story, adding that Julia did not find the humor in it. Ultimately, they chose Charlotte.

Charlotte Already Supports Her Father

In 2020, James started the Shirt Off Shootout Challenge for NBA players to raise charity money. In the Twitter clip, Charlotte's little voice can be heard cheering her father on in the background. James wrote in the caption:

"This is worth watching just to hear my two-year-old daughter off-screen say, 'you can do this, daddy!'"

James and Julia chose to keep Charlotte and her siblings out of the public eye as much as possible. When they occasionally step out as a family or run errands around town, the Corden children's faces are usually blurred.

James's protectiveness over his family was heightened after he alleged an unknown woman was harassing him. James and his legal team filed for a restraining order against a woman James said would camp outside his home on one occasion for six days.

James revealed the woman said Julia "stole" James from her, and once Julia was out of the picture, the mystery woman and James would get married. A judge granted James and his family the restraining order.

As a father of two girls, James shared that the key thing he wanted Charlotte and her sister to witness was a loving relationship between him and Julia. In 2021, James said:

"I think part of the key is to be really, really good to their mom… so that they see what a relationship should be."

James and Julia relocated to the States before Charlotte was born, and after he stepped down from "The Late, Late Show," James Corden and his wife had plans of returning to their home country England with Charlotte and her siblings.
