"We can't all be perfect on that front, but we can make a little effort day by day to shoot a text or return a call," she said in an emotional tribute to her sister.
Journalist Megyn Kelly interrupted her show "The Megyn Kelly Show" to announce the sad news that her sister Suzanne Crossley, 58, unexpectedly died from a heart attack this past weekend.
According to Kelly, her sister had not been in good health over the years, but the heart attack shocked her and her family. The journalist said she received the news after her show and immediately went to see her mother, brother, and her nephew Brian, one of Crossley's three children.
Kelly continued to express that it was an emotional time for her family and empathized with her mother because she can only imagine the pain of a parent that has to bury their child.
It is never easy to lose a loved one, but Kelly said she learned from this pain to always check on our family. She said, "It's important to hug the people you love," and reiterated how short life was.
Kelly ended her words of advice and said, "We can't all be perfect on that front, but we can make a little effort day by day just to shoot a text or return a call."

Kelly spends most of her days addressing the public and is one of the most well-known journalists in America; however, she usually keeps her family life very private.
Megyn Kelly Speaks about Life since Becoming a Mother of Three
When Kelly is not on air, she leads a private life with her husband, Douglas Brunt, who she's been married to since 2008, and their three children.
Their firstborn, Edward Yates, arrived in September 2009, and according to Closer Weekly, Kelly described him as a "sweet old soul." Kelly and Brunt's second born, Yardley, came three years later, and the journalist could have been more excited.

She even shared a cute story of when she took Yardley to the Fortune Most Powerful Women Conference when she was a year and remembered Yardley asking her what it was.
"It's a gathering of really powerful women celebrating their accomplishments," explained Kelly, and her daughter adorably followed that up with, "We are two of them?"
Yardley might have been on to something because Kelly revealed that she joined her at the presidential debate in Detroit the following year. Kelly then welcomed her lastborn, Thatcher, in 2013
According to Closer Weekly, Kelly's eldest son Edward, loves to play with his dog, Thunder. His mother said he is still an old soul because if he's not with Thunder, he will most likely be reading a book on the couch.
Yardley has grown to become her mother's best friend. Closer Weekly revealed that Yardley asked her mother to be her date for her school disco party.
Kelly was stoked. She wore her best '70s outfit and danced with Yardley the whole night. Her youngest son Thatcher is also reportedly the happiest when he's with his mother.
Before hosting her show "The Megyn Kelly Show," Kelly worked for Today, then moved on to become a talk show host for Fox News.
Therefore, when asked if she ever worried about not spending enough time with her children, the journalist said she felt more guilty when she only had one child.
But after the arrival of her daughter, Kelly said she was no longer stressed or wondering if she was a good mother. Instead, she realized that her kids were happy, and she was secure with the loving relationship she had with them, which was enough.
Motherhood changes every aspect of a person's life, and Kelly said the one thing she missed about her life before her three beautiful kids were naps.
Before she had her second child, Kelly confessed she could sneak in a nap or two in her day, but once the family expanded, it went out the window.
Napping seemed to be one of the talk show host's hidden talents because Kelly emphasized that she was "an excellent napper" and could do it whenever she needed to regain her energy.

Kelly has built a successful life for herself, but she said she was never pressured to become the best of the best growing up. In fact, the journalist said her parents told her she was not special, which lifted all the weight of trying to be an extraordinary kid.
So as a parent Kelly has taken on the same route. The talk show host described herself as an easygoing parent and said all she wants is for her children to be comfortable in their skin because she's always been proud of who she was.
Megyn Kelly and Her Husband, Douglas Brunt, Almost Didn't Walk Down the Aisle
According to Marie Claire, Kelly and Brunt met on a blind date. Before the talk show host met him, she asked her friends to go to the restaurant and secretly check him out.

The girls confirmed that he was a good-looking guy, so Kelly showed up to her date. However, it quickly stopped being about looks for the journalist because she revealed that Brunt seemed sincere and attentive. To top it off, Kelly found him intelligent and funny.
A few things almost led to the couple not getting married. Firstly it was the distance, Kelly had just moved to New York after getting a job at Fox News, and Brunt was the CEO of a tech company in Florida.
Then something happened that caused a big fight between the couple, stated Marie Claire. On one New Year's Eve night, Kelly and Brunt were walking her two dogs, and Brunt accidentally lost control of one of the dogs.

The dog ran into the street and almost got hit by a car. Brunt apologized, but the situation turned into a big fight. The journalist reportedly accused him of wanting to kill her dog.
However, Brunt already had plans to pop the question and wanted to wait until he bought a better ring. But he was impatient and settled for a look-alike of Rose's ring from Titanic that he got at a costume store.
As per Marie Claire, Brunt asked Kelly to marry him when they sat seaside on a bench in New Jersey. The talk show host confessed that she was stunned when it happened and took a while to give Brunt an answer, automatically making him think the proposal was a failure.
But it all worked out for the couple. They married in 2008, became a family of five, and now reside in New York. The former CEO is also a book enthusiast, reported Marie Claire, and a best-selling author of "Ghosts of Manhattan."
