Alexa Demie's mom, Rose Mendez, has been a makeup artist since Alexa was a little girl. After immigrating to America, Rose struggled to care for her children as a young mother. But watching Rose's passion for makeup inspired Alexa's role in "Euphoria."

In throwback pictures posted to her Instagram account, Rose gave her followers a sneak peek at her and Alexa's life before her daughter became a Hollywood actress. While she joked about her failed attempt at Kate Moss-inspired eyebrows, Rose shared that her daughter has had a way with the camera since she was a little girl.

Rose's love for fashion and beauty was passed down to her daughter. In a throwback picture Rose posted in December 2021, she wrote that she and Alexa were aspiring artists. Their resemblance is striking as they both pose for the camera.

Get To Know Alexa Demie's Mom, Rose Mendez

With over twelve thousand followers on Instagram at the time of writing, Rose often showcases her makeup talent on her daughters. Rose showed her versatility as an artist by sharing pictures of Alexa, from a smokey eye and light makeup looks to a gold-themed photoshoot.

Alexa recalled her mother having a job at Mac when she was ten years old. Rose would spend her time preparing for editorial looks by practicing on her daughter and doing her makeup. Rose would fill in her daughter's eyebrows, followed by blue eyeshadow and red lips.

By the time Rose was done, the "Euphoria" actress said she would look like a model, and sometimes Rose would let her daughter wear her made-up face out and to the mall. Rose also did makeup for the runway, and their home would be filled with fashion and beauty magazines and books.

Aside from makeup artistry, Rose is also a writer and producer and describes herself as creative. Her love for old movies and music, especially Lauryn Hill's "Zion," influenced Alexa and her career. Alexa said:

"I didn't have the most perfect life growing up, so I drew a lot from my childhood for "Euphoria," and I drew a lot from my mom's experience."

While Rose was her daughter's inspiration, Rose's mother, Martha, was her inspiration. In 2021, Rose shared a picture of her late mother on Instagram. She paid tribute to Martha on Mother's Day and thanked her mother for teaching her how to love.

The post received over six hundred likes, as people shared their condolences in the comments section. In March, Rose took to social media to celebrate her brother, Hugo's birthday.

Rose Mendez Raised Her Daughter as a Single Mom

Rose relocated from her home country of Mexico to Los Angeles when her daughter was a baby. She was a single mother, as Alexa's father was not in the picture during her childhood. Rose and her daughter lived in a rough neighborhood, and she lived off welfare to support her daughter.

Fortunately, Rose had her mother and sisters to lean on. Their help allowed Rose to pass down her rich Mexican heritage to her daughter. They would tell her Mexican folktales and keep her in touch with her Hispanic roots. Alexa said:

"In real life, my family is very supportive. No matter what decisions we make, my family has always been there for each other."

Rose Mendez's Life Is Being Made into a Film

In 2019, Rose and her daughter planned to film a feature film about Rose's life. With Alexa wearing the producer hat and starring as her mother during her teenage years, they set the film against the backdrop of the 1980s club scene in Hollywood.

In 2020, the "Euphoria" actress said the film was near completion. However, there has been no further word about the project. In October, Rose shared a black-and-white picture of herself in a stripped costume and a short haircut. In the caption, she wrote:

"(Throwback Thursday to) the 80s. It was a very important time for me (and) who I was to become."

Rose fills her Instagram with pictures of herself from back in the day. She once shared a photo of herself smiling into the camera as she held her daughter, and in 2021, she posted a picture of herself and Alexa posing in the same position.

Rose Mendez Has Two More Daughters

In her Instagram bio, Rose writes that she is a mother of three girls. While Alexa frequents her feed, so does one of her other daughters, Falize. In September 2021, Rose celebrated Falize's birthday with an Instagram post.

She wrote that Falize was always there for her family and friends when they needed her. While her third daughter does not appear much on Rose's account, Rose shows she is very close with Falize and Alexa as she is constantly posting their pictures and supporting their business endeavors.

Falize has a swimwear line and often turns to her mother for her makeup looks. In October, Rose shared behind-the-scenes pictures of Falize shooting for her brand. She posed in a blue bikini in one photo and a gold one in the second.

When Falize's brand expanded and came out with a fairy-themed T-shirt, Rose took to social media to do a little promo for her daughter. In 2017, Alexa released a colorless snippet of the music video for her single "Girl Like Me," and Rose shared it with her followers.

The proud mom often posts pictures with her daughter, and Rose wrote in one post that Alexa was her muse. In 2019, Rose and her daughters attended the "Euphoria" premiere, which co-stars Zendaya.
